Default uh oh... more 02 trouble!

Okay here's the situation

I stripped my old 02 sensor trying to get it out because the exhaust shop didnt use anti-seize when installing. Soooo now i have a stripped but functional sensor that i tied around the wire of the other sensor to keep it from hitting the ground on the way home, and i had the shop seal the now useless bung on the test pipe.

I was thinking about maybe splicing the wires from the good sensor with the ones from the bad, but i think that given these things work on the principle of voltage that would be bad...

so what are my options? do i just have to buy a new sensor and have a new bung welded on? or are there other ideas? thanks.
