Default MD Mrev2 and 5/16 spacer question..

Don't kill me, I've been trying to figure this one out for ages now. Well, more like two weeks, but thats beside the point.

I have an '06 (revup), and am trying to figure out what the best combination of plenum mods is. First of all, can I even use the stock hood and strut if I have both the MREV2 and 5/16 spacer? More importantly, is it worth it to use the spacer and MREV2? From what I understand, the MREV2 gives back all the torque that is missing from the REVUP engine, but then drops off a bit of horsies at top end. And the spacer gives horsepower. So does the spacer give back the lost horsepower from the MREV2?

guys correct if im wrong but the only way you will get the maximum power from the spacer and mrev2 combo is by getting a tune. if i were in your shoes, i would get the spacer.

Should try a search...not many dynos w/ the Mrev2 + 5/16 spacer yet, trust me, i've been waiting for a few months for ppl to post their baslines + this mod on a dyno... i would wait a little bit until more info come out about this mod, but so far, i've only heard pretty good things.

The way I understood it was that on Revup the V2 alone just doesn't work out too well. Coupled with the 5/16" spacer it works pretty good though. I had almost negligible peak hp gains, but a little more throughout the band, tq gained between 10 - 20+ ft/lbs throughout the band for me, with a steep roll-off at 6.7k rpms though. Still well worth it with the gains in the middle really giving some nice kick. I've since added a few more mods to the car and had a reflash and the roll-off up top is gone. I'm not sure what smoothed that out, hfc's or the flash, but the car pulls quite nicely to redline now. There is a MRev V2 and Revup thread kicking around here with at least a couple results posted, mine included. I need to post my latest chart in there, but I am going back for a customized tune in the next week or so and want to show the finished product.

edit to add: The stock hood and strut bar work fine with this combo, but it will likely take some tweaking to keep the strut bar from a) getting hit by the engine while it twists under load. b) hitting the hood. I had the engine hitting the bar once in a while after my shop got done, but I added the washers on the drivers side to the spacers adjusted the bar a little and got it all sorted out. Between the spacer/washer combos and the strut bar's adjustment it can be made to work with a little effort.

Wait, what do you mean by the engine hitting it while it twists under load?

And would it be safe then to just get the plenum spacer for now and wait until more people have tried out the mrev2+spacer combo?

When you step on it from a stop, your engine moves, if only slightly. There will be a noticable vibration, like your driving over the vibrator strips on the side of the highway. If you just get the spacer, you will love it imo. I got it and noticed a difference, imo also it betters gains added by intake/exhaust. Make sure your a/f isnt too lean or you wont make as much power as you can. Best mod for the money, hands down.

Yup, the engine twists counter to the crankshaft in the engine bay when under load. It happens with every car I've ever seen, although I'm sure there are cars that have solid motor mounts or whatever and eliminate it. It isn't a lot of movement, but the driver's side of the engine lifts a little. If you look at the spacing of the strut brace over the corner of the engine on that side, you don't get much play. In my case I was only hitting it when under high torque, so no real vibe, more a knock when punching it mid-band. Really not as alarming as it sounds, and simple enough to correct.
