Default So I MUST have test pipes w/ headers installed??

I heard mention in a couple of other threads that it is virtually a necessity to install test pipes after a header install or else my AFR will be extremely lean at upper RPMs. I fail to see how TPs in and of themselves will prevent a lean condition. Can anybody explain this to me? Mods are K&N drop-in/Z-tube, 5/16 spacer, stock exhaust on an '03 G coupe 5AT.

Don't have them handy. I was searching last night about emanage info and saw a couple of people state that you can't run only headers without TPs without getting a wickedly lean condition. Kinda seems like BS to me, but I'd like some more info/proof.

no... you can install the headers with your stock cats...

but, you will save money on installation costs if you do test pipes / hfc's at the same time...

I don't think it'll cost me any more to jack my car back up, remove 12 bolts and 2 O2 sensors and replace them with TPs.

I forgot to mention that my 14 y/o stepson and I did the install this past Monday (and a little on Tuesday).

Still doesn't beat the idiot who told me that if I ran test pipes I'd get a fuel buildup and if somebody lit a cigarette near my car it'd explode
