Is there really an AEM version 2 intake coming?
Just wondering, I want to get an intake (if for nothing more than the sound) but everyone keeps talking that there is a 2nd Gen AEM coming already?? True??? Why so soon and what was wrong with the current one?
The AEM V2 intake systems have bigger tubes, until it gets to the intake manifold then it is the same size as the stock fitting. That allows more air to be sucked in which means more hp. There is nothing wrong with the original AEM's, they just don't provide as much gain. Does this answer your question?

While we're on the subject- I have a question.
For those of use who plan on going w/ forced induction in the future, isn't it a waste to invest in a CAI?
I assume that we'll have to use a different set up that is part of whatever kit we end up getting?

Heres the word from their site:
AEM is proud to introduce its Version2 (V2) Cold Air Induction System for popular sport compact car applications! The AEM V2 incorporates a revolutionary breakthrough in inlet system design that utilizes a dual chamber (using two different diameters and lengths of piping). This design creates multiple frequency sound waves that help charge the cylinders with more air throughout the entire rpm range. Because more air is able to enter the cylinder chambers, the AEM V2 is able to create more horsepower and torque-across the entire rpm range-than any other air induction system. The AEM V2 even outperforms the original AEM Cold Air!
you buying all that??
Being originaly a Camaro guy in my youth(yeah I know, whatever) I was always amazed by how far import parts makers would go in over-engineering and over-pricing a simple intake tube with a K&N filters on the end of it
In this case AEM put its name on top by splitting enough hairs to get the most over-engineered, most over-priced intake tube on the market... which was promptly sent to Taiwan where 10 million exact copies of which were made that can now be ordered for around $75.
Well, just like Madonna, AEM has to constantly re-invent itself to keep people from seeing how simple she(ahem, I mean intakes
) really is. Whatever, might as well skip the V2, and wait till the $500 V3 comes out this Summer, it has an even better fairy tale about aerodynamics than the one above, that alone is worth 20hp, heres a spy pic of it I was able to smuggle out of their factory

Krinkov, you are a funny SOB but definitely keeping it real.
I'm getting an INJEN intake and be happy with the ~5hp that I get plus the sweet hum of gobs of air.
Keep it light!
