Default 03-05 Non Rev-Up: Was MREV2 worth it?

I am so schizophrenic when it comes to my car. One day I'm telling myself, save up the money for a supercharger, it'll be worth it. The next, I'm thinking, wow, that's a lot of cash, maybe i'll just stick N/A. Right now my mindset is the latter and I've been doing some thinking, and was hoping to get some input.

I'd like to hear from some non rev-up members who had PREVIOUS bolt-ons, then installed the MREV2. Possibly people with intake/exhaust/pulley/spacer... did the MREV2 make a noticable difference to you, or do you think it was purely a placebo mod?

If I went with the MREV2, I'd be running it with Popcharger/Injen TD exhaust/MD 5/16" spacer/UR crank pulley / ground kit....

Any input would be appreciated!

Youre in luck...lol. I just intalled my isothermal spacer along with mrev2 and the ccv. It pulls extremely hard the entire way to redline. Changed the sound to a slightly deeper note.
I had MREV2 installed before the isothermal spacer and with the mods i have now, i dynoed at 260 to the wheels. Im still waiting to redyno but i am sure my numbers have increased. I will post up numbers as soon as the temperature drops (100+ degrees here). PM if you have any more questions.

I am also thinking of going with the 5/16th spacer/MREV2 combo route. I have pretty much everything on my car save for cams, and hopefully this mod will be worth it because I heard nothing but good things about Tony's products. Also make sure you guys tune the car with the spcaer/MREV2 mod.

Better pull up top is always nice. You feel it was definitely a noticable gain though?

You nailed it on the dot! Just to let everyone know again, if you install the MREV2+spacer, you will need to do a tune to take advantage of both mods. If you do not do a tune, you will actually "lose" HP throughout the band in comparision to installing just a MREV2.

I'm still on a mission to try and port my stock MREV myself.

Does anyone have a stock MREV they can compare to the MREV2? The info will be greatly appreciated! We know already that the front two ports are shaved down but can't figure out what else has been done yet.

Tunes or a cam. No point in forcing more air in, if the cams dont flow. Im going this route too. Im wanting a 300rwhp NA Z =D Won't get me in trouble, and has bragging rights in the NA community lol.

260 whp seems a little high considering you havent had the car tuned. Just my opinion. I have seen countless z's with you mods all in the 240 range. I could be wrong though. Is it a rev up motor?

I'm thinking of the 5/16&MREV2 combo also after my nismo exhuast. Do you really think I'll need a tune after an intake/exhaust and the MREV2 combo? That'll probably be the last performance mod I will do.

Yes, you will need a tune, if you search the boards for MREV2 you can find a thread where I think Wired247 did a dyno shootout.

If you don't want to do a tune, just get the MREV2, it will be well worth it.

You dont have to get a tune. Every Z is different so what i would do to determine if you need a tune is buy either the spacer or mrev2 and see if it leans you out on the dyno. if it doesnt, then you are good to go on the second mod. if it does, then you will need a tune.

Titanjc: very noticeable actually and i didnt need a tune.

I suppose...most likley you will need a tune to make use of the added mods. If anyone takes this route, install the MREV2 first then the spacer.

I'd probably do both at the same time, but if I had to do one then the other I'd do the MREV2 first also.

Well idealy you would want to install one, go for a test drive/dyno and see how it feels. The install the other and see if there is any differance.

eg: Install the MREV2, dyno/test drive, then install the spacer and dyno/testdrive again. If you do dyno tests, try to do the part installs on the dyno.

Urban: i agree with you on that. I installed mrev2 first then later installed the spacer. make sure you are not running lean before moving to step 2

Has anyone seen a dyno with the MREV2 and a Crawford plenum? The spacer would not be needed with this setup, correct?

Alright, you guys talked me out of it for now then. Is the rebate of the MREV2 core exchange $122 or is the cost of the MREV2 $122 after the rebate?
