Default HKS Tip fitment (stock bumper)

Hopefully someone here can give a good answer on this. I received an HKS TD this past week and opened up the packaging yesterday so I could install it. It turns out the driver's side tip (the part the Ti sleeve fits over) got pretty bent up in shipping. I could go ahead and put in a claim with the vendor and get that piece replaced I'm sure, but I kinda see this as an opportunity. I would prefer just a rolled tip on this anyway, so I am thinking of ordering some tips and having a shop replace with these. So here is my question, what length tips should I order? It looks like the tip, with the Ti sleeve installed at it's shortest amount of extension is 6". Is this how you guys end up mounting it with stock bumper for a flush fit?

Bump 'cause I know someone has installed this exhaust and can say how they setup their tips with the stock bumper.

Woot, I'm going for the longest single-poster thread on this site!

Ahem, anyway, question answered if anyone ever comes up with this question again. It would be about 6.5" inches from the tip weld to the furthest point on the ti sleeve for it to be flush with the oem bumper. I spoke with the vendor this a.m. and with nothing to loose at this point and a replacement part a month out, I went ahead and bent the part back to as close to round as I could and installed the exhaust. Sticking with the ti sleeves for now, hope they grow on me, but 6.5" tips would be the ideal replacement for my taste if I do go that route.

What a suprise.... Another claim of damaged items during the shipment of their HKS. Your post is at least the 5th times I've heard of such a thing. A guy in the FGC had his bent to where he couldn't even use his exhaust. It took 5 months for his issue to get resolved.

My HKS was a few dings and nice scratches. Also, a 1 or 2 pipes of where the exhaust connects together wasn't exactly perfect...but I wasn't about to complain. How can HKS produce such a nice and expensive exhaust, just to cut corners with the packaging??

I mounted mine at the most extended point. I looked at them fully extended and shortened. My friend and i agreed that the fully extended tip looked way better.

I agree. I just got my HKS and one box was pretty badly beaten up. Fortunately there's only a relatively minor dent to one of the tips (not the sleeve that goes over it).

Otherwise it looks great and I can't wait to get it on my car.

HKS really should look into better packing.

My Hks arrived in perfect condition, I guess I'm just lucky.

Mine was the driver side tip also. Sharif (Forged Performance) and Greg (Injected Performance) looked after me and got it exchanged, the second one arrived undamaged. I can't wait to put it on the car, hopefully this weekend.

How do the tips adjust? Is it good quality? Or does it look like it could get loose over time and come off? I'm curious because I may be ordering it soon.

Just a pair of slots on each sleeve, opposite to each other on the sleeves. They are held with some set screws and lock washers and nuts when you extend the sleeves to your preferred depth. I did find I could torque mine down a bit more after a few heat cycles. Haven't been able to budge them since. I doubt any more than a follow up after some initial thermal expansion/contraction is needed to secure them.
