Default Modified Mag Article

Has anyone picked up the Oct. Modified??

This might be a repost...

They have an article in there about a 1990 Skyline GTR. Looks like your normal Skyline from japan article. Until you look at the engine...

It has a 2003 350Z Vq35de transplant along with the Z33 tranny.
I havent read it yet, just tossing it out there.

It make 354 hp @ 6300 and 296.4 tq @ 6300. It has:

Top Secert 95.7mm ppistons, slide-cam sprockets, 6-throttle conversion (mechanical) with anodized trumpets, 42.7 mm pro exhaust mainfolds, 60-90 mm full dual titanium exhaust system; Nismo step-II camshafts (in,ex), valve springs, proted heads, titanium retainers... (Modified, Oct. 2003)

Take a look at it. You will $hit...

The VQ is quickly becoming one of Top Secret's big tuner engines to say the least.

I have heard that they are one of the tuner shops in Japan aiming to extract 400whp out of the VQ.

I honestly don't see that being to hard with a stroker kit, ported & polished heads, dual valve springs (higher rev limit), cams, ITB's, full exhaust and a nice high compression motor on race gas.

Should be nice --- I'll check it out

I think the biggest draq back is the revs --- it needs to rev as high as possible and with it being such a wide V (instead of an inline like a 2JZ) it makes it a little tougher to rev to 10K

But as they tinker I am sure 470 flywheel hp (134.2hp per liter at 3.5L) is possible from the VQ --- with a stroker I would be very disappointed if they couldnt hit 400whp on a built motor
