+1. A heat sheild shields against HEAT, not soot; it'll still get just as dirty. You sure you don;t need a retune? Sounds like you're running pretty rich.

Tips are cheap, like 20$ each. Then you pay like 40$ to have it welded on if that. Your out 80$ and your bumper wont melt and you dont have some foil looking crap on that back of your car.

Actually the bumper can become really discolored. Happened on my silver Z and I cleaned the car all the time, albeit I had the stock exhaust with TP's. Eventually it had to go to the bodyshop for some damage repair and they ended up having to reshoot the bumper.

Could you share on where to find these? I found some "carbon" ones but I think a high quality product is due here as the exposure to the heat could discolor a cheaper version.

i got it from bulletproof automotive, great company. they're held on by rivets, but it comes with double sided tape as well for extra security. i dont have a camera so pictures might be a while.

This happens due to your car running rich. This happened to myself after I put on TP's. Then I installed headers (which made it real lean) and got a Utec a week later and it didn't happen after I had it tuned. That's what the dyno showed.

I had mine tuned with the utec. I dont have aft.mkt. headers though. The exhaust is super black from the test pipes. Next season ill get tuned again to see whats going on.

seems to be an unclear line on whether or not these are worth the money...I may just save the couple hundred bucks and use it to respray the bumper if i have to.

That was kind of my thoughts too, with the money it cost to buy those, although nice pieces, I could respray the bumper.
