We really should sticky a thread like this. MREV2 vs. Spacer threads are going to be the "Popcharger" threads for 2007

I agree titan but I think that unless motordyne sponsors the whole intake/exhaust forum then that isn't going to happen. It's just too biased...

Even though IMO tony's products are good buys (if you get the correct one for your application)

So I've read that this mod will make your car sound like a v8. I'm sure this is exagerated a bit but which one are they talking about with regards to sound? the spacer or the mrev?

Both MREV and spacer on a REVUP will sound quite a bit deeper than stock.

Is the ISO kit worth the extra cost and what does it give as an advantage?

The advantage is greatly reduced plenum temperatures and ~2HP.

The value is up to you.

Is is safer in the long run reliability or is there no difference there?

If you live in an area where it gets really cold. Colorado, Montana, Chicago, NY, Canada or similar area, I suggest getting the Copper, it will let your plenum run cool but also keep your throttle body heated. And this will prevent ice formation on the throttle body butterfly valve if you are driving in very cold weather.

Okay, I got a question for you Tony. I'm trying to squeeze as much HP out of my NA car as possible. I have a NonRevup (2004 5AT) and heard that if you have a nonrevup and install the MRev2+spacer that you can get more power (from the added spacer) with a Tune? Is this accurate, if so how much more? Is there a point where we reach the threshold for plenum mods? Because I was thinking about getting the MRev2+1/2" spacer, then tune with UTEC for the maximum power. Is this me with wishful thinking and is MRev2+1/2" spacer and UTEC tune unneccesary overkill? Also, I would be riding around for like a month without the UTEC, so until I got the UTEC would the MRev2+spacer mod basically be producing about the same power as just having the MRev2?

Just would like some ballpark answers...I know this may all depend on how lean my car is running.

Thanks so much

The rate of return starts decreasing as you stack mods, but more is still made. Having a UTEC will definitly help improve upon this because doing both has been shown to increase the A/F in every test ever done.

If you go back to my first thread discussing the MREV++ (now known as MREV2) you will find many dyno plots of all my testing and comparisons. I didn't retune after the installation, but I did tune to ~12.5-13.0 A/F before the plenum mod installations. So the engine was running very healthy before I started and even though I could see addition of the plenum mods brought up the A/F a little, it was still well within a nominal range.

If you have a UTEC, I expect you could see the same gains if both are installed on the 287 engine. Under these conditions, adding a spacer to MREV2 yeilded another 2-6 HP at various parts of the power curve.

Detailed plots are posted in the introductory thread.

Thanks so much Tony, now my only debate is whether I should go with the MRev2 + 5/16" spacer or with the 1/2". Like I mentioned earlier I will be staying NA and will be drag racing the vehicle, adding a UTEC too. I dont really need the strut bar for drag racing. Will the average power be more with a MRev2+5/16" and UTEC tune, or with a 1/2" instead?

bumppy. Going to buy from Intensepower and here are my options: (Help me decide!)

1. MRev2 +Iso Thermal (Aramid) gasket <--that's it (if i can)
2. MRev2 +ISO Thermal 5/16" spacer
3. MRev 2+ISO Thermal 1/2" spacer

All of the above mods will be with a UTEC once I get that in about a month. Which mod "should" net better gains all around, car will be NA for drag racing...

Thanks!

#2 if you don't mind spending the extra bucks, and if you're getting tuned, go for it Forget the 1/2" spacer, if you ever want to do road racing or spirited canyon runs, you're going to want the strut bar.

Default what is typical cost to install MRev2 and 5/16 space on 2005 6sp engine5

What is the typical cost to pay for the installation of spacer and and MRev2?
DO you need a re-tune or will reset of ECU suffice? Thankx
