Default DC Header Help!!!!!!!

I just had a set of DC headers installed on my car and the driver's side doesnt even begin to fit! They had to bend one of the pipes near the collector to even get it mounted, now it rubs on the steering column still pretty much all the time...and I'm freaking out. How on earth could the design be this bad? Does anybody have these headers installed? Any problems? How can I get DC to fix this?

Just to make sure, are these REAL DC headers or some copy of the DC header? If they are indeed real, take some pictures and contact DC on Monday and see what they have to say. If they are a copy, then it is buyer beware most likely.

I have them too - no issues. Have you checked the DC Site for pix to compare yours?

I know this is a stretch, but any chance you bought headers for a right hand drive Z? I'm running strup headers (which are pretty much the same design) and they slid in with no problems what so ever.

ooohh very possible. It's seems like there is plenty of clearance on the passenger side but absolutely none on the driver's. I just find it highly unlikely though...not many imported z's in the states.

I wasn't aware that DC made headers for RHD. May want to check on that one.

As you know, headers are not designed to be bent. Bending headers may likely result in cracked welds. You mentioned the upper portion of the steering shaft rubbing. The shaft has no outer sleeve for protection. Wear would frighten me.

Best of luck.

+1...

the solid steel steering shaft will eventually wear a hole in the headers if they rub over time.

mine fit perfect too...i did remove the steering shaft however to get them in making the intall and fit easier

if they have bent the tubing on the header, i would think this would effect performance...but how much did they modify?
