Dynoing 350Z INJEN intake 3/12 1pm Fremont,CA (Nor Cal)
Hiya all,
StrictlyZ will be dynoing the INJEN intake tommrow. We have an hour of dyno time on the DynoJET, and we will be testing with Wizeline's Stock Lemans track car.
I know this is really short notice but if any of you can make it out please do.
If you have any suggestions of what you would like to see please let me know.
Look for the results to be posted on http://SportZMagazine.com website most likely.
hope to zya there!

Hey Yuichi-
Anyway you can dyno that Injen with the JWT pop charger at the end of it?
or just the half Injen with the pop charger?

actually that is my current set-up when i bought the injen i didnt realize it was going to be visible through the front grill . but as luck would have it the injen filter is a perfect fit for there adapter at the end of the maf sensor. i then recently purchased the heat sheild from jwt and with a little fabrication it all came together ,it is a really good looking set-up.
i wanted to use the JWT pop charger because it has a 9inch wide base with an aluminum velocity stack that you can put inside the filter..
i'm not sure how wide the Injen filter is, and how "even" their velocity stack is they claim to have inside the filter...

I also am very interested in putting my pop charger on the end of the injen intake.
I was told that to put it on the end (down in the grill) you would need one more "mount" to get it to fit on properly. Did you do that or did you just use the short ram intake setup only?
I will be watching this post closely!

well this is what i'm thinking..
the MAF being used on the Z might be similar to the bolt pattern of a 2k2 Maxima. if so, Place racing sells an MAF adapter to a 3inch piping diameter with silicone hose..
so..
put the MAF adatper to the other end of the pop charger, put the silicone hose over the existing Injen piping, and you have a pop carger at the end of the injen piping... but i dont know if the injen's silicone piping outside diameter is 3 inches or not..
so that matters... anyone with the Injen, can they take a picture of the Silicon hose that came with it, and take images of where the filter attaches? thanks
i would also like to see the 'short' ram version with the bigger velocity stack and adequate heat sheilding..

Green line represents a standard filter, pink line representing the velocity stack. If you feel or even look inside our filter you would notice the rounded edges. They are not just put there for looks.
the pop charger from JWT for the maxima, offers a 9inch wide base filter, going to a 6inch rubber opening, with an aluminum 'funnel' that gradually slopes from the 6in wide to a 2.5" opening for the MAF. this is a smooth 45 degree sweep, all the way around, successfully creating a "venturi" effect. the stock injen 'velocity' stack in that picture is not a smooth / gradual curve, more of a rounded edge than a straight edge as its compared to. (also the aluminum wont bent like that rubber 'velocity stack, which might cause an uneven flow field)
what i'm getting at is the velocty stack on the JWT would accelerate the air faster AND smoother than the veloctiy stack on the Injen filter.. actually the more uniform the curve is, the faster the air can accelerate over the surface.
since the injen intake is at the bottom of a long tube from the throttle body, and taking that nasty 90 degree bend down into the radiator well, you'll need to get the air up the tube faster, and personally stacking on a better venturi stack will help the air flow.
i want to use the upper injen piece in place of the stock piping due to the fact the insides of the injen pipe is very smooth with no accordian sections to buffet the air, put the MAF, and just do the JWT pop charger at the end of that... smooth air flow into the engine is critical to get power at high rpms.
if anything. maybe even thermal wrap over that aluminum piping due to the fact that aluminum dissipates heat fast but also sucks it up at a faster rate than mild steel...

Why would you not use an AEM pipe? Just curious
