Default Would this combo work out well?

I have a rev-up. So far, I've installed:

popcharger
Mrev2
5/16 iso spacer
borla td

i'm going to look at some labree res. test pipes this week, would it be a good addition to the above mods?

I have no plans to tune my car anytime soon...financial restraints. Any comments would be appreciated.

Basically I'm looking for more torque without losing high end hp.

You may lose low-end torque and gain high-end power with test pipes.

I like the plan. Test pipes AND headers will complete the exhaust system.

I think your next three mods should be 1)headers, 2)test pipes, 3)ecu tuning.

Go for the test pipes, it is a long time before you have to smog check

Living in LA sucks hehe

I've actually had no problems with the police regarding my test pipes. Obviously my car gives off fumes that are quite dangerous, but the police don't hassle me.

I guess i'm lucky in some way.

How long is it before they ask you for a smog check?

Well if you plan on adding the Mrev2+spacer and test pipes I would strongly recommend a tune because those mods tend to lean u out. You might lose a little low end tq but adding some headers will gain it back. Good luck with your setup.

Still not sure on whether I should get the tp's or not. It seems like a big hassle because of probable CEL, legal matters, and loss of tq. Is it worth it?

the "loss of torque" is a joke. What good does torque between 1500-2000 rpm do for you?

It's not like you're going to lose so much torque you can't make the wheels spin. You just give it a little more gas when you launch.

Real power is made at high RPMs.

It's because my Z is my DD. Usually there's tons of traffic and I don't go above 3k on most occasions. Would tp's really affect me THAT much in how I drive? Or would the trade off be worth it?

If you don't go above 3k often I dont know why increasing horsepower is even a priority for you. I must go WOT at least 3x on my 15 minute daily commute... getting on the freeway, passing people on the freeway, etc.

If you need more torque in your daily driving, just shift at higher RPMs. Problem solved. If you're sitting in traffic, torque does you no good anyway, but if you WANT it, it's there waiting for you at 4000rpm...

Like I said, when you do any real driving you will have some more power. If you just drive your car at 2500rpm all the time, what difference does losing a few HP make ? Not a very noticeable one IMO

I sit in traffic with my test pipes and fall in love all over again! There's nothing like the smell of unburned fuel to wake you up in the morning.

But on a serious note, yes the smell gets bad sometimes but its worth it because of the top end power increase, throttle response + awesome exhaust note.

I love test pipes, I love em so much I installed them the first week I bought the Z. Twisted, I know.
