Default Need some additional advice on 1st mod.

Hey Guys hopefully I will be spending a lot of time around here. I have had my 04 6mt for a week now. Picked it up with only 13,000 miles on it. I went from previously having an 03 Toyota Corolla, which I bought brand new and was the first one to heavily mod it which meant a lot of redoing modifications. I ended up spending 16,000 aftermarket on it and never had it where I wanted it. It was one of the fastest Corollas on the road though Actually kept up with a lot of g35/350z's until about 80 mph and then they took off

Which brings me to my question. I spent most of the today on here browsing around at different intake and exhaust questions trying to get educated before I posted(Very slow at work today) And I am trying to figure out what I need for the Pop Charger on my car. The Z Tube/Pop Charger combo right? Would the best place to buy from be Perfomance Nissan down in Cali? After the intake I plan on a cat-back exhaust and the Stillen looks great and no one really had anything bad to say about it either. Would that be a good option as a 2nd mod?

Thanks for any help you guys can give?

P.S. This is an awesome site. By far more info here than any other G/Z site I have been to.

I think the Z tube is just the stock intake tube (pretty sure), but if you get the popcharger, you wouldn't need to buy an extra intake tube, it fits the stock one. That was my first mod too, welcome, btw!

The "Z Tube" is the stock intake tube on the Z. The reason it even has a name like the Z tube is because the guys with G35s have a more restrictive tube designed to be a bit quieter. So the G guys wanted the Z tube for their cars.

As for the stillen exhaust, it is a nice setup but I would recommend going to a few Z events in your area and looking at what others have done. That way you don't get it and realize you wanted something else later.

Z tube and pop charger. Then, you might want to consider exhaust, test pipe, then headers. Then, taking a step further, plenum upgrade.

Get the Pop charger and Nismo exhaust!

Also, why in the world would you mod an 03 Corolla?

Anyway, welcome to the site, happy modding!

Thanks for the advice guys. Any suggestions where to buy the Pop Charger and Z tube. Is that a pretty easy install? Thats a really good idea about checking out a meet to hear and look at some of the exhausts. I am still a little confused about what the plenum upgrade is? I have seen it posted all over but without too much success understanding it.

Oh and about why mod an 03 corolla? Well I got it for a car while I was in college and one thing led to another and it just kept going. The car resembled an IS300 and weighed only 2500 lbs and had 230 hp to the flywheel. So it was a sleeper but still looked nice enough.

Oh and for final plans I want to get the Stillen stage III kit along with clutch, flywheel, Short shifter, full header back exhaust, wheels & tires and springs. Not sure if I am going to do too much visually to the car. It already looks so good. There are some awesome kits out for it, but that would be at the very end if anything. I am more into performance than looks.

Im in the same boat as Blk04G35.. I bought my car about a month ago and am looking into mods, Never have been into the speed or import thing, I have had a 84 blazer with a 350 that has been featured in magazines, What i did learn is do everything right the first time. But i too don't know where to start on my car.. I am thinking of a FI, Probably a turbo, but supercharger is still in mind and i would like to start with the plenum and probably a pop charger.. And is not changing the exhaust a big downer? Cause I love the sound of the stock Z and hate that loud sound.. am i loosing much HP that way?

if my 350z only has the skunk2 plenum space, intake and injen dual exhaust, would the down pipes make my compression decrease?
