Well, i dont know about the headers? that seams like a lot of work to get those headers in?
I would start by purchasing the test pipes and the y pipe......there isnt much to it other than integrity of welds. if seomthing cracks down the road those items are easy to change out.
then if you really are wanting the headers and months go by on the test pipes and y pipes with no defects. then by all means.
as for hp? put it on a dyno. i would think you would need exhaust next to get the job done? your missing a mid section there too... I would say slap on the INVIDIA or a Greddy SP2 and see where you end up to finish the job?

As others have said, the headers are definitely out, I don't know if you are installing them yourself but from what I remember paying someone to do it is over $400 bucks (or something like an 8 hour install), imagine if you have to pay to take them off?
Also, stainless headers are especially affected by heat cycling. The pipes expand and contract and if not designed just right, they will fatigue in a very short time. If you must get headers, get some from a trusted source who will be there if you come back with cracks.
An exhaust should basically hang in position and all the flanges should come together easy with finger tight effort.
Most problems happen when a company does not spend the time to build proper jigs and their parts end up being out of alignment (sometimes ever so slightly). Then once everything is bolted together the system is pre-stressed. Add to this the constant heat cycles the exhaust goes through and things end up cracking.
This is why a name brand Y pipe will crack because of poor quality cats, all the welds are good but the stress of improper alignment cause a secondary part to fail because force is being applied in an improper direction.
Careful shopping for reputable parts will get you more value and less heartache in the long run. You are better off saving your money.

slight tweaking of an exhaust is fine upon the first install, especially if it is close to the motor. once you run the car a few times the heat will aneal the pipes and they will actually relieve stress on them and form to that position.
the cracks usually happen because of imperfections in fitment and welding gaps in instead of welding nice tight gaps. the amount and type of filler rod for the welds also is one of the main things. some welds i have seen don't use filler rod at all and simply melt the 2 adjoining pieces together, leaving a thin area at the weld. that will crack.
