Question STRUP Headers...few questions

Hey guys well I've done a lot of research on these headers and from the looks of it these haven't really had any complaints and seem to be the best to get. I do have a some questions though...

1) I saw a post about Crawford headers putting out more power, how much added power are we talking about? Is it worth the extra $$$???

2) I have seens posts about DC's 3-1 collector being polished/smoothed out... Is it going to have any difference at all? Is it worth the $40 extra if I could care less about a polished EXTERIOR finish?

3) I am taking these headers to be installed by a NSX tuner/installer/guru who hasn't really worked on Z's, but I trust the guy. Are STRUP's instructions detailed enough to not raise any problems during install?

4) I was thinking about Jet coating the headers... Does this process really make a difference performance wise (lower engine bay temp, faster exhaust flow)??? I could care less about looks or stealthyness.

Thanks for your help again guys...

1. I don't know, and 99% of people who get mods installed don't bother with before and after dynos. Some people will swear by crawford headers, others will claim they're not worth the extra money. They probably are the best ones out there technically speaking, but worth the extra money? Up to you - how much extra are you willing to spend to get "the best"?

2. Polished exterior makes no difference in performance. Smoothed out welds (interior) will reduce pressure loss and enhance flow.

3. Header install is not intellectually challenging. It is just really hard to get to all of the bolts/studs. I doubt any reliable mechanic would need instructions at all. Of course, certain things may get in the way such as the steering linkage. All in all, the header bolts are difficult to get to no matter how you approach them (unless you remove the engine completely). A competent mechanic should know what to do without messing up the steering alignment...

4. Coatings as you said, reduce under the hood temps, and keep more heat inside the pipe where it belongs. Just be sure the O2 sensor threads do not have thick coating, the threads should be re-tapped just to clean off the threads... I can't personally guarantee you won't have any problems with the coating though.

Suggestion about installation. Find a shop with experience installing 350Z headers. An experienced installer knows what to remove and what can remain untouched. Experience cuts the install hours, and saves you money.

ANY installer or competent DIY'er can install these. The instructions posted on the Crawford web site are unbelievably detailed, especially compared to those prose pros at Nismo. Considering how difficult it is to squeeze hp from a header installation, even marginal imrovements are worth the money IMO. I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. Many, many more people have been disappointed with the cheaper brands on here than with the Crawfords. I didn't coat them, but I don't drive in the snow or rain either, and the original paint is holding up.

jet hot coating does not come off easily at all - the wrong coating will, the right coating won't

I've got parts here on my cars that were jet hot coated almost 10 years ago no, and they are in perfect shape

as for it being worthwhile, its an added cost and added downtime- personally, I would not bother doing it, or if you were interested in a ceramic coated header, save yourself a bunch of $$ and go for the DC Sport mild steel headers, that are ceramic coated from DC, and what I decided to go with for my own car due to the cost and design.
