Pipe wise they use a 42.7mm primary and a 60mm collector flange

As for equal length vs non, there are plusses and minusses to each design - all depends on the cam you intend to mate it with and the power band you want
Old thread, but valuable one... and I hate new threads on old topics so...

I plan to install cams & headers... I was set on making certain they are equal length headers - but now this post make me question?...

If I'm considering a mild cam (streetable performance with occasional track) with tune (including cam timing) - and my goal is as much useable power as possible (I realize cams generally give up a little down low, for gains mid and top) - what headers would you suggest? And what cams for that matter?

I'm considering Crawford (but if a less expensive and easier to install option is out there please inform) - and JWT cams

Your suggestions please. TIA

Nismo/Crawford for headers

lots of cam choices for non-revups--me likes Tomei and the new HKS cams look interesting.

I'm sure Adam can give a much better opinion and recommendation on the cams tho!

personally, I wouldn't bother going through the time and expense of fitting cams without fully building the motor (heads to block) - I just don't think the gains are worth the cost otherwise

I used to think that way too… however recently I have spoken with some very respectable performance professionals and there seems to be a common belief that good cams with the right headers and proper tune very well may result in viable gains…

Now, cost vs benefit is a whole other story… really there is no viable cost/benefit N/A approach. I like the challenge of having one of the fastest N/A daily drivers – especially AT sedan.

It will be an expensive “lets see” project… but one that I am becoming more certain I will try.

As it stands I will likely use Crawford headers and JWT S2 cams… I am not anywhere near finished researching though…

If i had it to do over again... I would of went with Crawford headers.. Right now i have DCsport headers.. The reason i went with these is because they were listed incorrectly on a website over 3 years ago and i paid $300 and some for them.

As far as cams... Im still researching that for myself as well..

thanks for the heads-up! I've had several people suggest DC - and although I realize the quality is decent and the price is usually pretty good (even when it's not listed incorrectly as your experience), and the install is easier than Crawford - they are better suited for DD and not so much performance oriented (as far as I've determined).

Most people balk at the Crawford price and install - and indeed it is a factor - but to determine gains, I figure might as well do all or nothing.

gains yes...worth the time and expense to do it right? Not IMHO, but at the end of the day it's your wallet.

I agree whole heartedly about it not being worth the expense... no doubt. But I've wasted so much thus for why stop now

It's easy to go FI - but it's not easy to be one of the fastest FI (since it's so common)... It's a challenge to find power N/A - and there are fewer that have spent the time and expense - so in some respects it's more rewarding to me...

If I was only doing it to have a faster car in general, I would have bought another car all together (still might)...
