I don't like the Kinetix because the unit seems to warp after heat cycles and I like to clean the intake track. I had a hard time getting it to seal correctly what I upgraded my injectors and it almost cracked. The unit is working but as soon as I find a full lower and upper replacement I plan to run it over with a 4 ton Truck.

The product seemed to be a good idea but with the equal performance gains of spacers there is no reason to spend the extra money.

I am by no means an engineer but it will allow you to get equal air into each cylinder and the throttle body in the center helps to achieve that. Right now on our stock plenum, our furthest frontal clynders get horrible air flow (closest to the headlights). This is why we have the spacers, to help even that air distribution out. And with this custom setup, I am assuming that it will help with the best possible flow.

Since that car is boosted, it also probably has very quick response since the piping is direct to the intercooler vs being long and bent around through the car. Same concept as a top mount intercooler with short piping.

If I had it to do over again, I'd probably go with that Motordyne combo, BUT they've jacked their prices up from when the stuff firsat came out, so as it is, I don't think it's worth the extra cost.

I have the V+ and would recommend it. Sounds awesome and really cuts down on the under hood temperatures. That alone is worth the price for me, and if I get some extra HP that's good too.

of course, when it comes to F/I... it's a whole different story. but something like that custom intake thingie will be a piece of crap for N/A because you lose any advantage that good plenum design would've given you.

I think they just really got a bad rap after some initial cracking problems and everyone pretty much wrote them off in liu of the then proven Crawford. After that, the Motordyne hype took over. Fact is, Kinetix now makes a fine product, IMO and should be given a look. Make up your own mind from personal experience, not the propaganda that others get sucked into and spread.
Agree. Check the Sport Z magazine Plenum vs Plenum Spacer Shoot Out.

I had the V4 in the past, and really liked it. Dare I say, I was actually more impressed overall with the Kinetix V4 than with the MD 5/16" spacer that I have now! They both make the car feel better up high in the revs, but the Kinetix had a mean-*** sound to it. Never had a single problem with it either, and had it on for a while (over a year I think.... which is about 15,000 miles for me).

I just received my V+ I will dyno and post results when i get them.. but I opened the box up and I already love it!! I really dont care to get a few hp from it.. I honestly bought it to bring down my under hood temps..

I installed my V+ yesterday, it was pretty easy straight forward and only took about 2 1/2 hours. I could have done it faster if I didnt run into a intake hose length problem. I found that the Kinetix plenum is slight shorter at the intake opening. This install was fun and I would recommend this mod for anyone who really wants underhood temps down and a few hp extra. I was worried about turning the car on and having problems but I prayed, put the key in, and bam worked like a charm! I found I climb rpms alot faster, and its a little boost for my Car.

Default dynoed again

I dynoed my car with 3 mods and I received 60whp, but I have to say that I also had just installed UTEC and went from a 7psi pulley to 9psi. I know for sure that the Kinetix V+ actually made a difference though.

If you tuned the car and upped the boost you cannot reasonably say whether you gained anything or not with the plenum. This is exactly what Kinetix did when they "tested" the SSV, and it turned out to be a complete load of crap (yet interestingly enough they still advertise these gains).

I'm glad you gained some power, but in all seriousness, you could have reasonably gained that much by adding 2psi, a better tune, and no plenum mod.

Quailifier: I have used zero plenum mods, no experience.

My problem with spacers is that you have added another seam, another gasket, another place to leak or go bad.

The Crawford and the Kinetix both make more sense to me personally. As the Kinetix has a "dip" in it for the strutbar, it also makes sense that it would have a slightly lower gain than the Crawford. And the Kinetix retains the stock strutbar, without the "washers" or whatever the others use to retain the stock strutbar.

To each his own, but the Kinetix has some real advantages over the competition, esp for those who:
Want to limit "heat soak".
Want to keep stock strutbar.
Want to use only one gasket.
Use an aftermarket hood like Siebon.

We have all heard all the bad about the SSV.
But the Kinetix concept, IMHO, is a good one.
