Default Kinetix Plenum worth it?

READ FIRST:
What about their kinetix UPPER plenum? would it help at all? NOT THE SSV just the upper plenum. I was thinking about buying the plenum and high-flow cats package ($649). What do you say...

I think he's asking about the Kinetix composite plenum, not the SSV. I have one and like it just fine. Spacer or Crawford may net a couple more HP, but you'll bever notice and you ghet to keep the stock strut bar, it looks nice and virtually eliminates heat soak (important here in TX) due to it's composite construction. Flame if you want, but I give ut a thumbs up. I have the v4; they have a newer version now that is even better... been thinking of upgrading to it.

there was a thread showing how the kinetix plenum didnt really gain shiet though. nor the ssv. dyno proven. i had the v5 and sold it. i agree the car feels a little slower but nothing big. did like how the damn thing wouldnt even get hot. the oem plenum is practically on fire after a cruise. only if they made a oem size with the same material as the kinetix and used the motordyne spacer see how that worked....

I think Motordyne has a dyno comparison chart on their site comparing their two spacers, the crawford and a Kinetix v4. It has gains, just not quite as much as the others according to the chart. They v+ (it's not called the v5) has 10% greater volume yet and smoother interior.

I think they just really got a bad rap after some initial cracking problems and everyone pretty much wrote them off in liu of the then proven Crawford. After that, the Motordyne hype took over. Fact is, Kinetix now makes a fine product, IMO and should be given a look. Make up your own mind from personal experience, not the propaganda that others get sucked into and spread.

+1 I wish I never would of got it. I jump the gun when it first came out due to false hp claims. But whatever, it still looks good for now.

Thumbs up Kinetix V4 Plenum + Hi flow CATS

Best 2 mods I had before the TN turbo & I had almost all the possible NA mods then from headers, intake, exhaust, pulleys, TS reflash, grounding wires, etc. Best Bang for buck with ease of installation & a lifetime warranty to top. Maintained stock strut or in my case upgraded w/ the Cusco which I miss. The plenum too provides an incredible growl when accelerating.

And Yes I was talking about the plenum NOT the SSV. Im looking at the package for the high flow cats and the actual composite plenum (its black). I think I will go with it.

umm

Trust me the V+ plenum isn't bad at all. It does add power contrary to your belief. I had it and loved it, I only sold it because I needed some cash. I sold it to a friend and he also thought it was one of the best mods he has done.
I now have a Crawford because I got it for a really good deal, but Kinetix composite plenums do add power and in my opinion they are worth it.

If you truely want a better plenum, custom is the way to go.
