Default Best Na Exhaust / Headers ????

I have a 2005 35ann. Black Z with 18k mi. and would love to go FI but really after my volks and suspension .. i cannot expend that much money in the Z. Its a Daily driver and Ive always been a fan of N/A. I currently have the pop charger and will be getting a plenum and spacer as well. What do you N/A guys recomend for best exhaust flow. Im currently deciding between HKS TI dual or AAM 3" TI single exhaust. I dont really have a clue as to what headers are good on this car htough. Not many poeple specify the benifits of one over another. Ill be running one of these exhaust with test pipes and headers. I hope to squeeze as much power out of my N/A Z as possible with bolt ons, a tune and maybe some Cams in the future. Yes Ive searched all day but would like direct input. I understand theres personal preferences amongst brands and various dollar amounts. I would like to find out what you guys think is the best for performance and weight on a N/A Z. Thanks guys

AAM single Titanium 3"

HKS Dual TI Hi Power

WOOOW .. Would you classify me sitting in front of my comp screen viewing past posts for approx 3 hours today as SEARCHING ??? Thats what i thought. I think im not the only one getting tired of poeple preaching about searching. Did i not type in my paragraph that ... yes I in fact searched already?? Maybe you would like to search the topic of NA header and exhaust combos and report back to me 6 hours later with very minimal information?? Im asking a simple question based on poeples set-ups and what theyll discovered. If you have no usefull information please excuse yourself from my thread. Thank You

Furthermore does anyone have clips of the 3" AAM TI exhaust on a N/A Z ??

I installed strup headers and crawford cats at the same time and was happy with the gain/sound. I can't give you the Hp/Tq gain after this install since I did not do a base line. I am running with the Borla TD and the combo sounds great. I do belive a 3" exhaust might be too much and that is why I went w/ the 2 1/2 TD,, plus I didn't want the car tooo loud. With the 3'' you might need a tune right away to adjust A/F. There are more people on this thread w/ more knowledge and i'm sure someone will chime in,, but remember you exhaust will only be as good as your weakest think,, if you are going with headers and exhaust, get rid of those stock cats.

EDIT: I re-read and see you are going w/ test pipes, consider the HFC's if you don't want too much rasp, really no difference in performance, maybe 1-2 hp and a lot louder..

I've searched too and most recommend no more than 2.5" diameter for exhaust piping... Most on there love the HKS, so if you can afford it, go for it.

I have the Borla TD and love the sound. If you go that route, get it welded instead of relying on the band clamps. For a throaty rumble that's not overly obnoxious and maintains some of the original "Z sound" you cant beat it.

I understand the AAM 3" is too much for a dual exhuast set-up on a N/A car .. but when using a single exhuast is the 3" going to create good power ??
Or do you guys think even with a single exhuast on a N/A Z you still want small 2.5 " piping ???

^ kaybee650 .. get crawford what ??? Headers .. or HFC .. what are you referring too ? Your statement is a little unsupported.

Thnaks for your input Peter ... Sounds like that will be a good N/A set-up. I might have to go with AAM .. I want to hear a sound clip though .. with test pipes.

I would definitely go for HKS for NA. 3" is wayyyyyy to big for NA. Sometimes you might even lose power depending on your setup. I have HKS with Strup headers and test pipe. They sound really mean as i was told when WOT. If the price is around the same, then HKS.

Single pipe on a 350Z looks funny... it comes down to preference I suppose...

I do agree .. single exhaust just looks funny. I believe Im set on this N/A set-up.
I wonder what kind of numbers ill be putting up with this ... Hopefully its substantial for N/A.

JWT pop charger
1/2" spacer
Motordyne MREV2
Crawford Headers
Resonated Test Pipes
HKS TI hi power dual exhuast
Nismo cams

not sure what the HKS pipe ID is, but I bet it's overall exhaust velocities are lower than a single 3"...exhaust velocities are what affects the low end power, so the single 3" would most likely outperform the HKS down low. (I just posted in the exhuast section regaridng a simlar type of thread with the differences in exhaust restrictions relative to 2.5"/3" single and dual exhaust systems...

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/232144-dual-exhaust-or-not.html

As to the looks, I've seen some ppl post threads (https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-and-interior/228249-cover-1-exhaust-notch-in-oe-bumper.html) about lifting the center portion of the bumper that creates the 2 exhuast indentations...it's a simple, clean, non-permanent mod and I think makes a single exhaust looks good. (I was worried about having a single exhaust tip with a bumper made for 2...this resolves that issue) In the end, I think the overall look will be a bit more 'ricey', but I still think it looks clean and will fit the overall look of the Z

Yea .. I read all about the bumper mod.. to be honest i think it looks rather hideous. The picture above is the best one Ive seen yet and even still I think that the back bumper is high enough in relation to the rest of the car... bending up the middle only makes it worse. Im gana stick to the known/proven gains of the HKS TI dual 2.5 ... sounds amazing with TP and headers.

ha ha, this is funny, i found a couple on the first page. I see this same thread about twice a month. Get an exhaust that you like, the weight and power you gain are minimal at best.

Isn’t this entire forum is about headers and exhaust systems?
