Are you referring to a coolant bypass kit? The TB is heated by radiator fluid that passes through the neck of the upper plenum. There is a kit (Motordyne) and some DIYs on how to bypass the TB allowing it and the plenum to run cooler.

I don't know about the ones on eBay, I got one from Motordyne. The DIY ones I've seen (probably what you find on ebay) is just a tube to join the two hoses together. That let's you bypass the plenum section that heats the TB.

Not hard to install at all, just a little tough getting the hoses off because then connect under the plenum neck at the back of the engine.

My guess is that they are spring-type hose clamps, similar to what is on the OEM hoses. Because it's connecting to the coolant and it's under pressure, you need some kind of clamp to make sure that the hose doesn't come off the connector.

It won't do anything.

But... if you really want

All you need is to cut the coolant hose going to the TB and install a valve with clamps. Open or shut the valve manually.
