Weapon-R Intakes
Before i start, why doesnt JWT popcharger come with metal piping?
Anyone have the weapon-r secret weapon intake? Any thoughts on this intake? http://store.racinglab.com/ni0335wesewe.html

From what I have seen the foam filters arent all that great
and need replacing sooner then an K/N type filter. This is a foam
filter not cotto gauze etc. My friend had one on his celica and needed
cleaning more so then a cotton gauze filter. JWT is a big intake with
a venturi ring thats cnc'd on and screws onto your MAF. You dont need
any piping as you use the stock Z tube.

the stock piping is very efficient and the only bottleneck is the stock airbox. JWT just replaces the airbox with the open air filter design making it very effective and CHEAP
POP CHARGER IS A MUCH BETTER BANG FOR YOUR BUCK - THAT SEEMS A LITTLE STEEP FOR A " WEAPON R INTAKE " ANYWAYS.
I THINK I MIGHT BE THE ONLY ONE ON THE FORUM THAT DOESNT HAVE THE JWT POP CHARGER

Very true - I think w/ my set up if you average each item that I have,( between the chamber kit and the super ind. box ) the sticker on my avatar is about the cost of the jwt pop charger.........oh !!! my butt is still throbbing 10 months later.
I had one on my Sentra, and never had any problems with it. IMO most people don't give foam filters much credit. Sure, I've heard a lot of horror stories about foam filters, and majority of them are crap, but this one had worked fine for me, for almost 3 years. I only cleaned the filter every 10K miles, but never had any issues. Might get one for the Z. BTW, $200 isn't a bad price for a Weapon-R intake.

the weapon-r secret weapon intake uses a special vaccum effect inside its tubing for better airflow but the foam tubing is suspect... Do u think it would be a good idea to switch the foam filter with a JWT pop charger filter? any1 with feedback would be greatly appreciated...
No, you don't need to switch it. The Secret Weapon filter works just as well, imo. Like I said before, in almost 3 years, I have never had any issues with it.

This is debateable and Iam sure everyone has there own opinion on this but
the Z tube is fine as far as air temps go, Nissan put time and effort into this intake system and it shows. You really cant improve on it a whole lot, the metal piping may make a diff in air temp but it would be so minimal that you really wouldnt stand to make more power from it.

To the original question,
I know the Weapon R guys are local and I hate to talk bad about their stuff but I just can't figure out how putting a second tube with fairly unfinished edges held on by three rivets is going to make things better. It just seems like a lot of turbulence and restriction.
