I have Crawford HFC on my G35 Coupe. They definately took the volume up about two notches. It's only louder outside of the car though. Inside is no difference. The car definately has a, dare I say, more pronounced Ferrari sound to it.

As for performance. Down low it doesn't feel any better. At 3000 rpm though the car just wakes up and pulls real nice up to 6000-6500 rpm....

quietness and rasp will greatly depend on the type you use. Some cats are louder than others. Same with resonated pipes.

If you are looking for the most gains, get resonated test pipes.

The question is best answered in the regional forum.
Do you have to pass a visual emmisions test?
Do you have to pass a tailpipe emmisions test?

For cats with the least rasp - Crawford
For test pipes with the least rasp - Fast Intentions (or labree)

I'm not familiar with the Intense resonated test pipes so I can't comment on the sound of them. There may even be other cats out there that have less rasp than the Crawford but I havn't heard them all.
