hey everyone, I recently put on a CAI (AEM) and love it. that is until it rains. I also installed the water bypass valve for protection. the problem is whenever it rains, the mass air flow sensor goes haywire, because the filter gets wet. i have also put a shield around the filter, to protect it form the inner fender, (the water that comes through the vent holes) and still it gets soaked outside of swichting to a short ram does anyone have any ideas. any help would be greatly appreciated, when is it dry out kick ***, the sound is nice, i would hate to remove it,thanks peace

when it gets even the lightest amount of water on it, the car falls on itself, anything above 3200rpm and more than 30% throttle you can call her a stumbling drunk (the car) basically it sucks to drive, but man i'm tellin you the intake looks good and the sound will make you floor it a lot more often

If you are going with a panel type filter i personally like the Blitz one because it does not need oil, doesnt kill MAF's, and doesnt sacrifice filteration.

Its supposed to be replaced on 15-20K mile intervals, just throw away and no mess, no washing and no oiling. Even though the K&N is suppose to last a lifetime they usually get torn up and ugly by the time you hit 30-40K anyways. I also noticed that many people coat too much oil on it after washing it, in which runs a high risk of MAF problems or failure.
cai's might not dyno that good compared to the popcharger but they perform well.....its not fair to dyno a cai cause the car is not in motion.....but when the car is on the move it sucks up cold air....
ha this is funny. i had the same thing happen to me, i bought the aem cai with the dry flow filter. after raining...i checked my MAF was damp wen i pulled it out. i only had it on there for 3 days n went stock airbox with k&n drop in. runs like a champ
