I recommend that you:

a. Set a budget.
b. Decide what configuration is best for you. Single. Dual. One or two mufflers.
c. Listen before buying.

Sport Z magizine tested exhausts, and gave noise level specs. Check old posts in the exhaust forum.

I checked out so many exhausts in an effort to find one close to sound and look of stock with more power to finally go with the APS 2.5" dual with cat deletes.

It sounds like stock at start and idle and is not loud at all at WOT. Check it out.

JIC y-pipe shouldn't make the car much louder (if any) than the stock y-pipe. I think it flows a bit better though. Here are some videos w/ sound of my car with the Fujitsubo legalis-R (stainless) and JIC y-pipe.

Launch #1

Launch #2

Launch w/ AC on

Unloaded revving

My overall impression of my setup is that it is very quiet at slow speeds, and sounds loud and mean when you are mashing the gas. The car then got even a bit louder when I installed the JWT popcharger. I am pretty pleased with my choice in exhaust systems. Plus I really like the huge muffler tips on the fujitsubo system. At first they seemed really big, but now whenever I see the stock tips they look way too small.

Another thing to consider is whether you want rolled muffler tips (like Nismo) or single-layer thin tips (like Fujitsubo) or dual-wall (like factory stock or Borla). Good luck with your choice, I know it is a tough one.

Yes as it was mentioned earlier in this thread Fujitsubo is quiet. Another exhaust that is also quiet is the Tanabe Medalion Touring, it is rated under 93dbs. I wish I would have made a sound clip of my car when it was NA so you can listen to it. However as DavidV mentioned you should listen to the exhaust in person since most audio clips are not of good quality.

I have a friend that has the Borla true dual and he really likes the way it sounds. The good thing about aftermarket exhaust system is that if you don't end up liking the one you get you can always sell them and get something you do like. Good luck
