Default Varis duct + rain?

Im looking into getting the Varis c/f duct and tube from evo-r so it will be a direct flow into the airbox. My only concern is rain. Will any water affect it with the duct having a direct path to the intake box? Also does anyone think that there is a real performance gain if any by having the duct with a direct tube to the airbox or is it more cosmetic? Thanks

no real performance gain, it's more cosmetics, and the rain doesnt affect it in anyway.

If you are very paranoid about the rain, make a 1/2" hole at the bottom of the passage way so the rain water will drain out if it does get in there.

Actually there are gains, but mostly at high speeds.

There was a article on here they tested ram air induction on sport bikes and the pressure induced by the oncoming air actually made hp at high speeds.

I installed a replica air duct, and i have never had a problem with rain. It just snowed here last week and i was driving in the snow, and that had no affect on it either. Looks even better on the Z if you have some tints or a carbon fiber hood or CF front lip. Overal good decision in my mind...

Too bad the kitty can't prevent the start of these types of threads where people are just too noob and lazy to search.

^^^ LOL. Well the man said "High Speeds" I'm wondering if he was talking 100mph + or more like 75mph+. If the pressure effects are seen at 140mph+ then it's not worth it in my opinion

If you're looking for some big gains or something, then you should look elsewhere. While the Varis is a nice exterior mod, it is more for looks than anything for the average street car.

Im not looking for big gains at all man, but when you're NA and auto and are at 14.0 and want to get to 13.9 EVERYTHING counts...

Thanks for the heads up though...

You won't be noticing any power differences with this mod.

+1

In a quarter mile race you won't feel anything, especially because the damn air inlet is so small.

And Zladie when I said high speed it was 120+mph. So, no go on the quarter mile thing.

Thanks guys...

Kinda funny, cause one time on the street i popped my hood so some air could come in, and i felt my car pull harder. lol I think we need a better front grille design, like the G35's, i like the position of those grills...
