Unhappy I hate my test pipes.....

hey everyone, i installed some resonated test pipes about three days ago and man I have to say not only do they make my exhaust sound terrible but.... they really really made my car a lot slower. I guess its to much flow, to the point i'm losing combustion. 5.5k to 6.6k is the about the same but blow 5.5k rpms is horrible, i lost all my torque and power below that. i'm putting the stock cats back on tomarrow. and i did drive about 160 miles for the computer to adjust but that only helped a little. Did anyone else have this problem of losing power?

Are you sure they are installed correctly? It should do much better than that.

I know that your supposed to lose some tq, but your topend should definitely benefit. I could understand your flow reference if you were going with some huge diameter test pipes and a huge diameter TD exhaust, but I dont think that you lost so much back pressure that you could see a decrease that much.

I suppose this is way it is suggested so much to dyno before and after mods.

LOL. The butt dyno is a terrible tool. Most members add a mod, and say that they can feel the difference (say an additional 5 horsepower). This is an exception. Only a before and after dyno can verify the results.

I think he needs to upgrade and get the new hottness

I have resonated test pipes on my car and i DID have rasp until i installed and X-pipe muffler in the center of my exhaust. I did not notice any loss in power, it was a nice gain, mostly up top.

I had my test pipes on for about 5 months now. Had no problems til this weekend. When I was drivin in 6th gear and low rpms and decide to punch it a bit on he highway it would climb to around 5k and I felt a drop of rpms and loss of power for a second or 2 and then went back up.
This happened a few times this week. Is it normal? I have no problems before. I have nismo catback with mrev+ and spacer and popcharger.
I know im running a bit lean lookin at the exhaust tips.
Should i be worried and put on stock cats?
Can this be the cause of the extreme cold weather here?
Any help will help me thanks

well, i always could rip the tires up from a stop and even a 20 mph roll, but now not at all, not even from a stop. yes there are installed correctly. maybe its running to lean now? also it sound so bad with my exhaust, it must be because its the cheap obx one. it acually sounded great, looked great, fit well and gave me very very noticeable gains, but with these test pipes its a bad combo, ANY rpm at wot gives terrible!!!! rasp. even at 30% throttle or more. if these test pipes gave me 50whp i still wouldn't keep them teamed with that exhaust, its d@mb embarresing. oh well

Where is your electric cut out located on your exhaust system?
Do you have pics of it? If not, take them and post it.

EDIT: The problem may be related to an interaction with the cutout junctions.

What size piping are you running? What size outlet do the test pipes have? What size inlet/outlet does the y-pipe have? What size inlet to the y-back?

It usually sounds horrible when you have test pipes installed with your stock exhaust. You lose that deep VQish sound. Most members install after-market exhaust systems along with their test pipes.
