K&N Typhoon Intake

I have a K&N Typhoon Intake that has an air duct that goes down to the grill. I was wondering if I could have something custom made that would utilize the entire grill opening as an air duct, or would I screw omething up, or is it worthless?

That would be a bad idea as you would completely cover the airflow to the radiator.
