Default Test pipe daily-drivers... how bad is the smell?

Been around long enough to have searched , but usually get comments that the TPs smell like gas initially and then you either get used to it or it goes away as the car adapts the A/F to lean things out

But my question is for daily driven test pipes owners... how bad is it? when you walk out of the car and into the office/work/school after rush hour commuting.. do you smell like gas the whole day?

You smell it mostly when you start up the car when its cold. You might get a hint of it when you are at a light for a while. It's no worse than what you sniff when you're at a gas station. It's not as bad as most people say.

Not bad. Only thing is, in teh winter, i hate using the A/C air from outisde cause it sucks in smelly air. Everyother situation is fine.

You have a huge snot that's been dormant up your nostrils that you gotta blow out ASAP.

If you have your windows down and back up you're definitely gonna catch a nose full, but it's not bad at all.

I don't see why it would vary from Z to Z but it was enough to where I couldn't take it anymore. I'm not real sensitive to many things and am good at learning to live with certain things but I couldn't live with the smell from the test pipes any more. I used to get out of my Z and I would smell like gas fumes. I really miss the performance from them though. Big difference.

Buy an older Z, drive it for many years, get used to smell...

No joke, I've had my '79 for almsot 10 years and the fume/gas smell is something you get used to to...my 240 is worse. I cannot imagine a 350 with a much tighter body and better seals would be any worse.

I can smell it some during stop/go traffic, and when I park the Z in the garage...but other than that, I don't notice it. (i.e. getting out of the Z in a parking lot...don't smell a thing)

thx for the responses...

If you were to do a blind test with your coworkers/friends/significant other... is the smell bad enough that they would be able to know whether you drove a Z w/ test pipes just by sniffing/smelling?

it depends on where the driving is...my wife smells it and hates it - but she always gets in the car when it's in the garage...
