Default Making custom 4" Exhaust...need to decide on Muffler

I will preface this by saying this is for the RB26, not a VQ35 and it is single exit. Anyways....I have been researching 4" inlet/outlet mufflers for some time now and finally have a good amount to pick from, but can't decide what to do. Here is a list of ones I have found, some info/prices, they are all straight through design, it is the internal constuction that I am concerned with. So just mull them over and let me know your opinions. They will pretty much all be inline under the car and not at the exit. The exit will either be just a tip or straight piping.

Burns Stainless Ultralight, 5.5" OD, replaceable ceramic muffling cartridge, $260
Borla XR-1 Racing Muffler, 6.25" OD, Chambered Construction, $280
Magnaflow Race Series, 6" OD, Perforated Tube Construction, $115
Dynomax Race Muffler, 6" OD, Glass Wrapped Perforated Tube, $85
Dynomax Ultraflo Muffler, 5" OD, Perforated Tube, $50

I heard the borlas are really good. They use those on the high hp domestic V8's.

damn you guys would pick the expensive ones wouldn't you

How would you compare the Dynomax Race Muffler to the Magnaflow Race Muffler? They are basically the same accept the Dynomax is a glass-packed muffler.

I vote no muffler...save your money.

Or get an HKS Titanium 4inch that the Supras run...if you really have to have a muffler.

Aeroturbines sound good, but barely count as a muffler. I'd vote for 2 resonators, no muffler. The muffler at that size would make no difference unless it was long. You can always add a muffler later, if its too loud.

The hks titanium mufflers for the supras are a catback system, not individual mufflers so no go on that one.

Those $50 dynomax ultraflo's are basically just resonators. My true dual 3" had one of those about halfway through, then an ebay muffler at the end for each pipe.

Check these out. Seem nice. The Gen-I is 304SS and 6" OD while the Gen-II is 5.25" OD and made out of B2 stainless (never heard of this before).

http://www.dnamufflers.com/DNA/race.html

Click on the PDF catalog for the Gen I to show you what the chambering looks like. They say it impedes virtually nothing.

I think a HKS Dragger canister would look sexyyy on a 350z with the middle part of the bumper cut. That's what i'll probably be going for!

HKS dragger isn't made in 4" inlet though...no HKS universal mufflers are

I highly advise against NOT having a muffler. even glass packs might not be enough.. trust me.. you'll thank me later.

I am most definately going to run a muffler of some sort. Like I said about my 3" true dual...resonator and ebay muffler on each side. I don't think the ebay muffler did a damn thing because it was one of the loudest 350Z's most anybody had ever heard...and some of these people are people who are around them everyday Not to mention the on-boost sound with dual open wastegates.

The new setup has a single tial 46mm open wastegate as well.

Just run a 4" cutout and retain a 3-3.5" exhaust.

I was looking for some mufflers too and found this info on the net. Not sure how credible it all is but it's worth a look...

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/archiv.../t-119518.html

I decided to go Borla. High flow, low sound, low price... what more could I want?
