Default aluminized piping

what is wrong with using aluminized piping? i'm assuming its lighter than stainless steal, and considerably cheaper. what is the downside of using this for exhaust?

Aluminized steel is just a aluminum+zinc coating. It probably weighs the same or more as stainless. Stick with SS for exhausts. You will be happier in the long run.

Does anyone jet-coat there exhaust components in addition to headers (y-pipe mid pipe or muffler)?

Oh, and the only other material I would opt for besides SS for exhaust components would be titanium

Do a little google research on welding aluminium and I think you will we why aluminium is not a popular metal for exhaust systems.

It's not aluminum pipe...it's aluminized...like The Tech posted.

The pipe is the heaviest of all the piping from Aluminized, Stainless and Titanium. If weight is not a concern, and the system you want is available in aluminized, you'll save some $$$ too!
