Default help!!! messed up on install

so i installed the AAM plenum spacer and then i started the engine and there was a really high pitched whine coming from the engine. what the hell is it? i would think a leak would be more like a hiss but this sounds like a really loud mechanical whine.

also i orderd the intake kit which came with this simple bracket. there were no instructions and no screws or anything that came with it. if you bolt up the new intake peice to where the old one was there is nothing supporting it and i can't figure out how the hell the bracket is supposed to help.

i may be a complete moron and just tired right now, but more than that im pissed off, becuase on top of that i didnt recieve enough spacers for the damn strut bar....

please give me any help.

doubtful, i was pretty careful during the whole process. it was a b*tch holding the upper plenum up by myself and making sure the gasket went on right. i dont know what i did but if a bolt or something dropped in there i'm sure the effects would be more than just the noise im hearing.

what about the intake kit, how the hell does it go in? it doesnt make any sense

You might want to check your strut bar. It may not be rubbing against ur plenum when ur parked, but when u drive it might. Adjust the strut bar to raise it. I had a weird noise when I installed my 5/16 motordyne spacer. After I raised the strut, it's perfect w/ no weird noise. BTW, I did try using strut bar spacers and it wasn't needed. Just adjust the screw on the strut and you'll be fine.

thanks for the input.

the noise is while the car is parked tho, and its so loud i cannot tell exactly where its coming from. I'm going to try and take the strut bar off and turn it on, but i'm actually kind of afraid of turning it on if something is jacked. the noise almost sounds like a warning beep, but insanely loud.

i was searching through DIY threads and saw one that said to reset the ECU after installing an intake. do you have to do that? i've never heard of that being necessary....

Tie a piece of cord around the upper plenum. Put a small s-hook on the underside of the hood. Clip the cord to the s-hook.

good ideas...

my roommate finally got home so i went back at it this time with some help. i took it all off, checked everything twice, put it all back on. made sure i had clearance with the strut bar then started it up. .....

sounds fine now. WTF??? i dunno, it sounds good actually i revved it a few times and definately can tell its a bit more responsive.

i'm still pissed about the intake tho. for such a simple part, i feel like a moron for not being able to put it on.

yeah my spacer install was a PITA too....forgot to put the radiator hose into the back of the plenum and had radiator fluid all over the floor the next morning, made a weird whining noise, steam came out, & I had air in the lines. Well after giving up for a week, I took apart everything with my friend and found the disconnected line...$&^^*#+++^#^ Well after filling her up with clean fluid i could still hear the air in the lines so I had to take it to SGP and have them bleed the air out of the lines. Then last week I removed the strut bar becuz it wasn't clearing. Now FINALLY shes running smooth!
