heres a clip of an hks setup. sounds mean to me. alot better than a topspeed exhaust too.
That sound of hks exhaust clip is no way better than top speed. It kinda does sound Ricey...not enough bass and too much treble.

i've heard some cars that sound great with the HKS, but it didn't impress me on the car in this video compared to the stock sound:

IMHO, that sounds disturbing for my ears. It is just too loud.

I have never heard topspeed exhaust in person. The HKS exhaust without test pipes sounds okay to me, but that vid which is with test pipes is just too loud for me.

Your hp reads higher (as it should with an MT, but our torque is almost the same. So to say that HKS top end is going to be WAY better than Nismo, I say nay.

I did like the sound of the HKS in the videos. Sounds awesome, and because it's "true dual" you may see better hp, but not WAY better. (hfc ftw! Cali emission laws blow chunks!)
being true dual top end is alot better than nismo. sorry to say but if you were to get hfc on ure set up u'll probably gain 4-5 more hps

I would think the newest revision of the injen would sound vastly better than the previous generations. Not only that, but the piping on the injen is beyond small. I personnally measured ID on the piping at something like 1 7/8".

The HKS definitely sounds better than the injen if anyone is wondering.
Finally. I get some recognition.

Umm okay. I don't think I need the extra 4-5 hps by getting hfc that by your math, you think I'll get. I've already got as much torque in my AT as most modded MT's (that are NA). I'm not taking my car to the drags where I'd be looking for more top end, so encounters that I'll have are much shorter in duration than a quarter mile.

This became a thread on who likes the way different exhausts sound, but as usual became a whole different animal as it evolved. Most of us, listened here on the internet, and them went out into the real world to hear their choices in person. This is how I did it, and I went with the Nismo. I heard all of the mentioned exhausts here and more in person, before deciding on which one I thought sounded the best. HP never even came into it. We've all spent A LOT of hard earned dollars on kits, exhausts, wheels, and more. We all have different ideas of what looks cool and what sounds cool to us. My sig shows my vision of my Z when I started to mod it..now nearly complete.

Well I finally installed my HKS exhaust. Along with the plenum spacer, I absolutely love it.

I am thinking of getting the 3 inch exhaust and 3 inch Y-pipe to produce loud sound As far as the fitment goes, is it pretty good or way off and difficult to adjust/put on the Z?
I got 3in y-pipe and 3in exaust and fitment is great.only need to remove a heat shield near the back bumper but it works and sounds great.its a great exaust. go get it and be happy

Great thanks! Now i have to wait till its made again...everyone is out of stock

Also will the top speed Y pipe work with stock cats?..so it be connected as...

Stock cats ==> top speed Y-pipe ==> top speed exhaust

Will they all fit considering that the top speed y pipe is 3 inch?

LOL...now I know why people have been calling the shop, asking if the HKS sounds ricey. Couldnt be further from the truth. IMHO, its the best sounding NA exhaust out there...hands down. I have a funny feeling, that the "ricey" HKS exhaust maybe had an exhaust leak or something other issue with the car...causing that sound. The HKS sounds like heaven to me.
