Yes I did dis-connect the battery...

I'll give it some omre time to see if it adjusts...

Any other ideas welcome though!

JUst another observation, the polished part of the intake gets very hot, I touched it by mistake and my hand got very hot very fast. I am sure if I left it it would have blistered.

More air means increased fuel to mix with and cooler air is always better because it also helps out in the power department. (At least theoretically.) The InJen *should* be better than stock because of the air filter placement. It's in front of the radiator and not further up and back where air is not as free flowing.

I couldn't tell you for sure about HP gains because I have yet to find the time to go get my car dynoed. But I will let everyone know when I do.
Thanks for your response. I was toying with the idea to install this mod. But after reading some reviews, the effect of the CAI appears to be insignificant, so I've decided to spend my money somewhere else.

Great post principe. If persistent, you should be concerned about the rough idling and get it checked out. It doesn't sound healthy.

Default Bumper removal

If you read my posting....

there is absolutely no need to remove your bumper!

Remove the cover under the cars bumper, there are some dozen screws that hold it on. Once you remove it, jack up the car about 10 inches to get under it and its done!

Unforetunately can't post pictures because mine is already done.

Good luck, you can email me or call if you like for more details.

Do a search for SKiDaZZLe's thread about the front bumper removal. He has lots of pics which I've been told are very helpful.

But like principe said, you don't have to remove the entire bumper. I didn't (although I'm getting good at it now, since I've done my LED sidemarkers as well). But even if you do take off the bumper, it's surprisingly easy.

I ordered mine from Avalon Racing. Not sure what it's priced at now, but I got it from them for $250.

I just got mine from www.ptuning.com. I ordered it on Tuesday and it arrived wednesday. 257 dollars shipped. I installed it without removing the bumper with some help from the forums. It took 1.5-2 hours to do the install. I had no problem using one of the clips to secure the second part of the intake to the bumper and it is nice and secure. The intake shield was a breeze with the extension arm on the socket wrench.

I disagree with principe about the difference in sound. When I have the throttle wide open around 4500 rpm and up this thing sounds mean. When I first hit it after the install it brought an instant smile. I dont know how much diff in performance. I think I can feel a bit more pull in the higher rpms. All in all I think its well worth it. Injen makes a great product. It looks sweet when you pop the hood and for 260 bones its a fun cheap mod.

Thanks for listening to me babble.

I didn't install the Injen -- I have an AEM on mine, but that's how it is.

The first time I went out after installing it, with my girlfriend, we were driving around town getting to the highway. I remember thinking that I didn't really notice anything different.

I hit the freeway at full throttle -- still the same. Then 3500 RPM hits, still climbing. I say to my girlfriend "whoa, I've never heard THAT before!" Once you hit 3500~4000 RPM there is a definite mechanical roar that isn't there with the stock air intake.

I can't say for sure if it's added any power, but it certainly hasn't hurt performance.

I installed mine last night and it took a solid 2 hours. The heat shield took the most time just because I had trouble getting the rear bolt off. Ended up using a socket extension with an elbow in it. I also jacked the drivers side up about a foot to get under it to remove the splash guard. Overall very simple install and good results. Acceleration feels smoother (maybe a little faster?) at higher rpms.

Questions:
Does the rotation of the mass airflow sensor matter? I have the sensor plug in on the left of mine, some of the pics show it on the top.
I assume the gasping, or whisping sound on acceleration is normal?

Thanks!

^ The rotation should not matter and the whisping sound on the acceleration is normal. I have an custom CAI on my current car. I love the sound after 3200 rpm all the way up to 5700rpm, the sound just goes up and up, like an airplane launching... and I did notice better performance and gas-milage on it too (gas milage is better with the CAI when driving nice)...

The orange part of the tube looks like it gets in the way of the hood holder. What did you do to keep it from getting in the way?
