I thought I read here before that someone used a shop like Midas or Meineke to do the install on their exhaust and had a pleasant experience with it. So, has anyone else on here who didn't do the exhaust install on their own or from a performance shop use a Midas to install their aftermarket exhaust?

I don't trust either Midas or Meineke. If there is a regular shop in your area that you trust, an install should be no problem. I paid $80 for the install at a local shop. For shop recommendations ask in you regional forum.

Davidv, thanks. I already tried in the regionals so figured a post here would help. I don't trust either one either, but I know of some people from other forums and perhaps here who have done it and came back happy. I assume it goes down to who is doing the install and if they are knowledgeable enough to do them at these shops. the one shop I have been taking this car to do it has been nothing but a money ***** with so-so work.

You don't trust them? Why? A chimp can install a catback.

If I didn't have an option AND I couldn't do it myself, I'd try whomever would do it.

I have to disagree.

Ive seen some shtty work from places you'd expect to know their stuff. I would also hate to run into any attitude at these local muffler shops and get my sht fcked with because they didnt like the way i looked or the fact my car was more expensive than their's. It happens.

but honestly, bolt it on yourself.

any place with a lift can do it.. but make sure you go to "engine" mechanic not a body shop unless they do some work like that.

The local shop is filthy. There is parts and trash all over the place. The mechanic is filthy.

I would say that even though a chimp could do it, its not worth the hassle or the money you save by going to someone that hasn't worked on our cars. Trust me even though it seems really intuitive and the easiest thing in the world, some sh!tty mechanics can find a way to f4ck it up. https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/275898-custom-3-gone-wrong-help.html not really related but this is how I learned my lesson about going to weird shops, and yes it still stings.

Just make sure they wear gloves if the exhaust is stainless, the oil from your finger tips will discolor and tarnish the exhaust if that really bothers you, its going to get dirty anyway. Any muffler shop can install a catback, just make sure you watch them, make sure they remove and O2 sensors correctly, and use all the factory exhaust hangers. Shouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes if they take their time.
