Default custom 3" gone wrong, HELP!?!?!?!

ok guys so I need some help, if you read my rant on https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/233825-borla-6.html you guys will hear about the **** poor job that a local mandrel bender. Here are some pics of his awesome crafstmanship. So I took my car back today and got into it with him about how he thinks that a TT 3.5L wouldn't need a single 3" exhaust and it would be fine with his 2.25" mid-mid pipe (the pipe that he cut off of the stock exhaust to fit over cross member...shown in pics). He also mentioned that he couldn't avoid the hella kinks in the bends and that it is normal for 3" since it was difficult to bend (you could tell that we didnt really buy it, but couldn't argue with him since we didn't own a mandrel bender). But to his credit he did say he would redo it so long as I showed him how.

So could you guys PLEASE post pics of your single 3" going over that cross-member as well as into the muffler? So I could convince him that it is indeed possible to run 3" into the massive 10" by 1' space above that member.

Wow.... that's hideous. Did he actually go to school for welding or just read about it in a Popular Mechanics? Throw it out and call it a leason learned. Buy a proper true dual exhaust.

I’m sorry buddy but this looks worse than the OEM exhaust. Chalk one up to experience.

def. one up for experience, and WAY WAY WORSE than stock but he is willing to redo it along with some pics. Im not expecting it to be much better than this but hopefully something to hold me over for like 2 months until I have some money again. What is funny is the guy was talking all about how he had done the exhaust for a bunch of cars that dynoed 1500hp+ and how he has been doin this for 18+ years, and now seriously do those bends and welds look like 18 years of experience????

PLEASE guys in need some pics of 3" exhausts to give this guy a clue

Seriously, just give it up and buy a nice new one and avoid further headaches. There are lots of nice 3" exhaust choices now, unlike a year and a half ago when I was needing one.

So you have a twin turbo setup and you're to cheap to get a proper exhaust?

I'd have him re-do it if thats your only option. I mean thats pretty botched... I'd look into getting an HKS or Greddy TT or something.

no, no...sry what I meant to say is that it was what TT guys run... in a TD for that matter. I was just trying to prove a point to him. But you really can't prove anything to anyone who backs up what they say with "well i've been doing this for xx years, and..."

I did It because it is the setup (piping/muffler setup) that a guy on his Z and it sounded amazing..
And honestly im going to keep the POS pipe as a trophy for the worst exhaust ever and to remind people that in the end I guess you get what you pay for. Honestly now that I think about it I should have paid the extra $150 and had it done in So Fla at one of the 50 million shops that have worked on Z's and knew what they were doing. But as of now I have to make the best of the situation and at least the guy will redo it.

So please guys I need some pics

somebody correct me if im wrong but arent you likely to lose bottom end power with a 3in exhaust on NA?

also i still dont really know what kind of pic you're looking for, but check out the link below theres atleast some underbody shots of different exhausts.
