Default A couple questions before buying an exhaust

Basically I'm deciding between the HKS and the Injen SES for my 07. Right now, the only reason I'm considering the Injen is because it's cheaper and I like the sound a little better. However, I was wondering if these exhausts are comparable performance wise. I searched around and noticed that the HKS is one of the most favorable exhausts on this forum, but I couldn't find as much information on the Injen, so I was wondering if there is a big performance difference between the two.

Also, I am thinking about going FI in a year or two (most likely Vortech or a ST setup, but still waiting to see what comes out for the 07s), and I wanted to buy an exhaust that is well suited for both NA and FI. Are both the HKS and the Injen usable with a NA and a FI setup?

I am leaning towards the HKS, since I get the feeling it blows the Injen away based on the positive opinions towards it, but I'm not completely sure. I'm also hoping that its tone is a little deeper on the 07s, and I plan on adding TPs or HFCs to make the done deeper as well.

Thanks in advance.

I've been contemplating this exhaust thing for a long time too, You shouldntake a look at Fast Intentions Intimidator exhaust as well. Looks like many favorable reviews.

I have an Injen true dual right now. The quality is top notch, you will hear many positive things about it. As with the HKS. A lot of people here like the HKS.

From what I gather, and Im sure I'll be corrected if wrong, all of the single exhausts yield about the same performance and all of the dual exhausts yield about the same performance. It mostly comes down to look and sound. I would not say that the HKS is a better quality than the Injen. I would attribute the higher price on the HKS to it's unique canister design. People in this JDM market want unique and original things that stand out and say "look, I'm modified", so HKS is capitalizing on that.

I say if you like the sound of the Injen better, then go for the Injen. Use the extra money for an intake or some other mod.

Not sure about the FI question. I'm not an FI savvy guy. I thought for some reason if you went ST, you had to have a single exhaust, but I could just be mistaken. Hopefully someone who actually knows will chime in.

The Injen Super SES is the best performing cat-back exhaust. If you disagree, post your time slip here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html

Is that for only NA, or FI as well?

Let me just say I believe the Injen TD is the best NA exhaust system. I had one, it made good power, and Ive seen it compared (dyno and racing) to a 3" y-pipe 3" axle back on 2 different Z's with the same other mods besides the exhaust. Both did equal peak #'s but the TQ did not fall off as much up top for the Injen and that resulted in the Injen car pulling at the top of 4th like nobodies business. My car pulled like a **** up top NA trapping 107mph. With that being said if your gonna do FI, you need bigger piping, dont do the Injen in that scenario.

Injen and HKS are both 60mm piping, right? So they are both ruled out for FI (Vortech SC for example)?

If we are talking about the pre-ti model, the one with 50mm pipe, no cross over.

The only good things that come to mind about the Injen Super SES straight exit is it seems well made, shiny and looks cool from the back.

If you like the sound of the Injen better, go for the Injen. The HKS welds are disappointing on such an expensive exhaust....but who sees the welds once the exhaust is on the car? I have the HKS and I love it...but it's all personal preference.

We have both exhausts in stock, so let us know if you would like to go ahead and purchase one.

I'd say if you plan to go FI soon, get the Greddy TT exhaust. If you plan to stay NA for awhile get the Injen SES or track. PM me to order one

SES- $799 shipped
Ti track- $899 shipped
Greddy Evo TT- $1230 shipped

NO

specailly for a vortech is fine... You dont hav e aturbo there...jstu a blower

also.... the pipe sizing of the injen Ti is good for stock block turbo setups. I saw the regular straight ses at 440whp so i am sure the new INjen TI can handle more.... so its still a good exhaust for FI on stock block applications

Lets say you want to buy a Greddy TT exhaust now but you don't plan on doing FI for another year or so, would the exhaust sound terrible with NA engine if installed right away? Would there be a huge powerloss due to the 3" piping with a NA Z?

Alright Time for my .02
The injen exhaust is very nice( looks)and sounds great on a stock car.
A friend of mine Mike (Shifty711 on the site) has test pipes and headers on his car with the Injen. It is SO LOUD it is obnoxious. He wants to switchy it off and sell it.

My Other friend Billy (Blueper4manceZ on the site) had the HKS with Test pipes and it sounds great! I really love the sound on that exhaust.

Now my Greddy is the best sounding of all of them
I also have the test pipes and I LOVE it. That is my personal opinion...
Also from what I have read the Greddy and the HKS are your best options from the FI crowd.

good luck
Either option is great..just note the Injen is LOUD constatly

How about the weight of the 3 exhaust??? Which is the lighter...cause i doubt Greddy is lighter than Injen or HKS the canister and the resonator look huge to me

there is not such huge difference honestly to really matter unless you were going with Amuse or JIC Ti that weight 15-9lbs

IF you have narrow it to that go INjen Track ti

I don't see any benefit of buying the Injen TI for bling, which is all it's good for. It's not a full Ti exhaust and if thats what you want your looking at the wrong systems.

The tips WILL get covered in exhaust soot and dirt from the road. Just save the extra 100$ and pick up the SES. I got mine from a vendor on here for $740 brand new.

The injen is very easy to install, bolted right on within 2 lazy hours (we took our time).
