Default Header Installation Question

Can anyone tell me if I need a special gasket to get my Nismo headers installed? It would also be helpful to know where I could buy a new gasket for my headers or exhaust mainfold.

you can re-use the oem gasket for the headers. they are made of metal. my Z was at 50k miles when i had my Nismo headers installed and the Z shop said it was perfectly fine to use the oem gaskets again.

you can get the gasket from the dealership or from mynismo.com. they have a pic on their exhaust section. check it out.

Don’t think so. Exhaust manifold gaskets are available from your dealer.

You can reuse the stock ones but I don't recommed it. I bought mine from a online company for 15 bucks a piece as opposed to $35 a piece the dealership charges.... On a side note be SURE not to

Thanks. That was a big help. Although I own a G35 Coupe and not a Z I'm not sure the installation is mostly the same.

Sorry, I meant to write I'm sure the installation is mostly the same. I'm not doing it myself, I just wanted to be sure I had all the parts I needed.

the stock gaskets are made of metal and can be re used with no problems. When you pop your headers off if your gasket isnt black and burnt up then feel free to use them again. I personally ordered new ones but they are safe to reuse if they aren't all ate up.

Is the change in sound noticeable with the Nismo headers?

yes, especially if you have test pipes. adding headers gets rid of the "drone" from 2k-3k rpms. you can tell the sound flows better.
