Default **A free 07' Intake Mod**

Hey 07' owners,

Do you guys want to hear the loud growl of your 07' dual intakes without paying a high price of the aftermarket companies for a kit? Well, have I got the answer for you.

Take the two plastic opening inlet pieces off which lead to the opening of the airboxes and you will definitely hear a huge difference in the intake tone. It will get much much deeper and louder at WOT.

This will even add a few ponies in the upper RPM's and it won't make you lose any in the lower rpm's.

Try it! It'll take 2 minutes of your life. Not everything has to be dynoed to be proven, dynos aren't always accurate and to prove + or - 2-3 whp is impossible on a dyno so in other words worthless.

I dyno'd without air filters and filter housings that slide into the airbox and picked up a few hp in the very top end with no losses down low (though it may have been from an already slightly dirty air filter too?). Basically the same results he saw with removing the horns. If it's anything like running w/ no filter housing, it's definitely a mean sound.

The only downside I can see with removing them is that it is no longer is a sealed system so it may also pull warmed air from behind the radiator/core support, where the stock setup will only pull from in front of the core support.

especially when it pertains to an intake mod, results would differ from a dyno (non moving car) to a car moving at some given speed where air is more flowing

Yup.

At the track, I did the no filter thing and I didn't gain in trap or E.T. so I know removing the filters doesnt add power. It is removing the inlet plastic pieces that does it.

Also, if you noticed, they are a big restriction. Thats where most of the sound and power comes from, not necessarily the filter. The stock filter gathers a lot of dirt and small particles which I wouldn't want going into the motor so I would leave those in there.

While driving, it basically gathers air from so many different areas that it actually does help. It's a simple mod, it literally takes 2 minutes to finish. Here are the steps.
1. Take the plastic tabs off the inlets
2. Remove the 4 plastic tabs on the upper portion of the front bumper
3. Pull the inlet back and twist to remove them without removing bumper
4. Enjoy the added growl and power

I basically had it for the people who buy pop chargers beause they love he noise and they don't care about "heat soak". lol

I'm going with fujita and covering it with thermal wrapping.

Yeah, I'm probably going to thermal wrap/coat everything too. Won't be the prettiest, but it'll be functional.

lol Go drive it around the block and then come back with the results, this is what your face will look like . It is easy if you twirl the plastic piece a little bit. I know I didn't specify it but it's difficult without a pic.

Go test drive it.

Another thing I also noticed with this mod is you can actually hear the TB not opening up all the way in some occasions.

Going WOT from 2k rpm you will hear when the TB opens 100% and sometimes when the vehicle isn't advancing timing or isn't ready yet, it doesn't open the TB completely. You can actually hear the difference. The intake is silent then very loud all of a sudden.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the drive by wire for this reason. Foot to the floor doesn't always mean 100% throttle. I've gotten used to it, but it is a bit goofy (sounding) at times.
