Sup fellas. I am here at Acosta Racing posting this. They are half way done with the y-pipe and we are now using two high flow cats from magnaflow. And the owner of Magnaflow dropped the new ones that just came out!

May i remind everyone that the base dyno (dynojet) we ran this morning was with a GHL Exhaust and on my 19" wheels, in 4th gear.

Also a very interesting thing we found was that on my car, the power drops after 5200rpm. So i am going to get in the habit of shifting at 5000rpm.

laters.

I'm guessing it didn't go too good. Where are the Dyno results?

Why are you so pessimistic?!?

We are right now (7:51PM EST) Tid welding the Y-Pipe. This stuff takes time! This is not a bolt on for me; we fabricated this entire thing! The only manufactured part was the hi-flow cats from Magnaflow. So please be patient.

Looking at the time right now, the dyno will have to wait for tomorrow morning. But I will post side by side pics tonight.

Since I dynoed 234, I have a friendly bet going on with the Acosta Racing staff, that I will dyno 250 when its all finished.

I didnt realize the stock setup had 2 cats as well as a pre cat. We now just have 2 hi-flows.

Peace!

Are you sure about this? The torque peak on the Z is about 4800, so I don't understand how the power could drop so quickly unless some of your mods have really changed the stock performance.

The only concern I have is that if your car is that much different from the rest of ours, how are your dyno results going to help us understand the performance of our cars?

Either way, I'll still be very interested in the dyno's.

Good luck and thanks for being one of the leaders on the modification front!

As far as perf mods, my car isnt so diff. Before the Y-Pipe I had the GHL Exhaust, cross drilled brembo rotors and 19s with toyo T1S. Sure i have 100 shot of NOS but thats not something i dynoed yet or i use often on the street.

So my dyno is a true representation of the 350Z plus cat-back GHL exhaust + Acosta Racing Y-Pipe.

Now onto the pics....

Default Pics and review without dyno...

Pics first

Review

The y-pipe has made my car a lot louder, in a great way. Sounds very Porsche. If you ever heard a 996 with a techart exhaust, this is similar!

My butt dyno felt great. High speeds is achieved with less throttle and man, it does a buck thirty even faster than before!

Dyno results in less than 24 hours.

Thanks to Acosta Racing for the beautiful craftmanship. As you can see, the Acosta Racing Y-Pipe is flawless. I am posting the pics of the other available y-pipes for the 350Z so you can compare on this one thread.

Importlife, by shifting earlier, you are going to be lowering the RPM you are going to be picking the next gear up at. Short shifting 1st and 2nd might be helpful, theoretically, but the gears you are in for a long time, 3rd and 4th, for a quarter mile run, I would have to believe taking it to redline would provide better results.

But hey, that's what experimentation is for, let me know how yours goes.

You all waiting for the ECU to adjust to see if you get gains after driving it?

Craftsmanship looks top notch, much better than the others, especially the Westpak (which like you said, keeps stock cats).

Some other observations.

- The piping on the Y-Pipe is 2.5" and bottlenecks to the base of 3" in diameter

- I have no "Check Engine Light" problems

- The Westpak Y depicted there looks like a single exhaust setup

- The Top Secret Cats look stock but modified with holes

- I am going to the highway right now cuz I love the new performance and sound. I need my last dose before i sleep

We will be providing several readouts for the dynograph.

1. Baseline (includes GHL Catback)
2. Y-Pipe + GHL Catback
3. Y-Pipe + GHL Catback + 100 shot of Wet NOS

OK, if people would read the entire posts so they got the whole information it would help. The "westpak" one or Japtrix, who makes it, IS NOT single exhaust IT USES THE STOCK MUFFLER, see pic below. It is alo 2 1/2 into 3. As for the quality is was just a prototype, it is normally stainless steel and painted if wanted, besides who looks under the car to see if it pretty or not. Personally I think it is a pipe dream that they will get 15-20 HP increase but will see my guess will be 7-8.

The high flow cats are the key, not the pipe. Personally, I'd rather run no cats than high flow but to each his own. Depending on what the cel count is on those cats, and what they are made of (platinum or ceramic) they could see 15hp. I think platinum would see a greater gain.

I found that the 350Z in the GrandAm Cup is running straight pipes all the way without cats and true dual, and they only get the MIL if they sit and idle for long otherwise the light doen't go off, so emmissions don't seems to be a problem and all we would need is something to fool the sensor, replace the cats with straight 2 1/2 would be the best.

That's what i'm talking about. I would love to do some data logging while running no cats to see what the threshold is. I'm always leary of the ECU pulling back something to compensate for inaccurate O2 sensor reading.

To make the long story short, my spark plugs need replacing. My dynographs are producing broken lines in the chart as opposed to a continuous read out. So we don't want to post mis information.

Sorry for the delay. We are shooting for next week.
