yeah 70 total, but you said you ran a 60shot so the pipes were actually about 10hp

Those y-pipes look sick. Great welding job, very clean looking. Hope you get good gains. Love the craftsmanship.

Nitrous doesn't just bolt on the exact amount of horsepower of the shot. I mean going off of just the nitrous dyno doesn't mean anything. It's figured at somewhere around a 60 shot, right? but there is no way that could be accurate.

exactly. I would just like to see the dyno before the car had the y pipe installed and after w/ out the nitrous running. Seems fairly simple, no need to complicate it with another variable.

Also it would show more of a gain on nitrous than without since more exhaust volume is going through when on the bottle.

Sounds like my next mod if a dyno can substantiate your predictions.
I am assuming this will bolt on to the Borla I have installed?
Thanks for info!

I dont see flanges on the stock y pipe. Does this mean it must be cut off and the new Y pipe welded on?
Also will using this pipe without heat shieldind be detrimental to the underbody (or any aspect) of the car?

The stock unit comes off on three mounting points, noted here by the red circles. I have a catback GHL Exhaust so everything forward comes off and is replaced by the Acosta Y-Pipe.

Hope this illustration of the stock pipe helps. If you look close, you will also see a lot of restriction. The stock cats look really long and narrow, this could be equal to almost three cats. then there is also a precat at the base of the stock unit, which also restricts.

The reason you dont see any flange in matt's factory Y pipe is because, we had to cut them off in order to make copies in the cnc machine. Remember matt's car was the proto-type

Thanks for the prompt replies.
Again, is there an advantage to having the y pipe thermo coated, or do you think this is an expense I can avoid?

the only advantage of having the Y pipe thermo coated is only that everything by the y pipe stays 50% cooler,,,so is always good to have it

The unit is certainly nice looking, I'm looking forward to the dyno!
Why do plugs effect the dyno (other then if their just bad)?

Acosta,

Get back to me with that dyno chart. I'm really interested in the Y-pipe assuming that there are no problems on the prototype car. I'm also pretty close to you in NJ so I can pick up the final product.

Looking forward to some good results.
