Default Header Back Y Pipe (group Buy)

Hey guys, the guys at Acosta Racing in Nj are making me a custom, Header Back Y Pipe. The Y pipe is 2 1/2 " Full Stainless Steel with a High Flow Catalylic Converter. The entire Y Pipe system is Tig Weld. Acosta Racing is Estimating 20+ RWHP with a cat back muffer system. And 15 RWHP using the stock Muffer system. The cost of this Y pipe if anyone is intrested is the following

$950 ( stainless Steel w/ High flow cat)
$1200 ( with ceramic heat coating).

This Y pipe would be Dyno in my car, sometime next week, when i have some free time..

P.S. if you are intrested PM me or email Acosta Racing @ Acostaracingll@aol.com.

So if one were to have the Stillen cat back that already added 13HP, one could expect an additional 20HP (not rwhp) on top of that? Or maybe just 7HP more for the HF cats/Y Pipe? Is this after a turbo install or on an NA? Either way I would be interested. Please post pics.

It's tough to say how much whp will result from this y-pipe and different brands of catbacks. I already have the GHL Exhaust so we will dyno the car with just the GHL exhaust, then with the new custom Header Back Y-Pipe as well, so we can see the difference.

I trust acosta racing because they helped me build one of the fastest 350Z in the country so far. And their work is 1st rate.

I will post pics and dyno as soon as it's all done.

Just to clarify, we are removing both cat. convertor that come with the car. then make custom y-pipes that lead into a 3" high-flow cat convertor, most likely Magnaflow brand.

Once my car is done, you can order direct from Acosta Racing. The prices above are installed prices. If you need shipped to you i will ask them for a parts only cost as well.

If you have the Stillen you can't use the y-pipe as the Stillen exhaust deletes the y-pipe, you could only use the high flow cats, and from what I have heard not much horsepower on high flow cats alone.

Random Tech only had 3HP for the High Flow cats and they will be around 350 each so 700 bucks for 3 HP??

Will they supply high flow cats with out y-pipe?

Good Evening guys, My name is Marcos Acosta from Acosta Racing, llc. I have been helping out Matt with his 350Z baby, From Nistrous system to Street-Glow Lights. We have study the 350Z, and we are pretty shure that we can get 15 to 20 extra Hp ( to the wheels) by Replacing the factory Y pipe. We have done hours and hours of research on the 350z. And we have found alot of good ideas and tricks for this engine. ( let me tell you is the best performance engine i have seen in 20 years in racing), But we would see how much we do gain by the Y pipe next week. And hopefully before sema, we can show everyone how strong this engine really is, when we custom built matts Twing turbo setup.

Westpak,

I believe we are using Magnaflow 3" highflow cat. If you want to buy them on their own i am sure you can. But i was confused by that question because i dont know if you still have the 2 cats that come from nissan. we are removing the stock cats and only implementing 1 highflow where the stock straightpipe is now.

The important thing here is that it will be emissions safe as well. I don't want to jinx myself here but i am expecting 20whp on this new custom header-back y-pipe ALONE (No pressure Marcos!).

then you add my ghl exhaust which has been dynoed on other cars to add 15whp, so this can be a very nice increase in power.

I can't wait!!!!

OK, the Random Tech I believe replaces both cats with 2 cats, so yours will be different, will it bolt on to the stock or aftermarket straight pipes? I have the Fujitsubo. Results will be interesting.

Also, when you go turbo I assume you will have to replace it all over again?

Can't the downpipes be design to mate with this pipe, you don't have to replace anything if you do this.

No. you wont need to replace it when you go turbo, we are fabricating it to work with the turbos downpipes once they are install. And yes you can use factory straight pipe, or after market. So it dont matter what exhaust you are using.

Thumbs up

Damn, this seems like an AWESOME mod. But, $hit, that is a lot, $950? If I had the money, I'd jump on it though. If it really does make 15 rwhp, it is worth the price.

Good job & post dynos soon!

If top Secrets headers bolt on to the factory cats then it would work, also.

$950 does seem a bit high. I am going to go with a Y-pipe, but was leaning towards Westpack's because of the cost. What makes your design that much better to warrant the higher price?

If you look at Westpak's post (https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ighlight=ypipe) you will see two catalytic convertors. And the pic also looks like it has 1 exhaust tip?

But I cant speak for that system. I will however post the dyno and pictures of the Acosta Racing Header-Back system tomorrow.

OK, to clear things up the Y-pipe (referred to as westpak's, but not actually mine) is actually by a friend of mine down here in Florida, they do not replace the cats it bolt's on to the back of the cats. It uses the stock muffler so there are 2 tips it only replaces the y-pipe and the straight pipe.

With the acosta system I guess you are paying more because you are paying for a y-pipe plus the piping that replaces the cats and installing a high flow cat, so to compare it to the "westpak" y-pipe you would have to add the performace of the high flow cat and the cost of a high flow cat.

The Dyno's will tell the story, as long as they are comparable conditions and fuel type, we shall see tomorrow how much power they get from this setup, I would get one if it gives 20HP increase will that be possible? I don't know but the facts are that the Y-pipe gave 4-5 HP increase, the high flow cats and y-pipe from Random Technology (not on the market yet) gave 7-8 HP total so 15-20 would be a great accomplishment and would be the best HP to money ratio of any mod to date.
