Default 07 Prototype Intakes

Well was getting some exhaust work done at a local shop here in South Florida "Exhaust Depot", who makes alot of SRT4, Solstice/Sky Turbo, GTI, etc... mostly FI vehicles when we decided to give a go ahead at some custom intakes. I didn't have time to get them powder coated cause it was relatively late and we where in a hurry, but this is what we came up with so far.

It sounds deep and throaty, I do have a custom exhaust with an x-pipe so the vehicle was not stock to begin with.

After resetting the ECU, I've been doing some city/highway driving and it does feel alot better than the stock airboxes. I can't verify more power it is definitely a lot smoother.

+1 It's funny how the OEM intake manifold is plastic and the aftermarket unit they produced is metal which will create more heat soak compared to plastic.

I spoke to owner of the shop about that, he actually wants to make a cold air kit for it more than anything. The problem is our schedules are conflicting. The intakes can be made to turn down more, plus i was thinking ceramic coating the tubes when we finished the complete design. I'll be going back in on Thursday for some additional stuff. I don't have clips but i'll see what i can do about that too.

Try putting A/C ducting on the piping as well as heat wrap. It'll prevent heat soak. The biggest design flaw is not having a airbox. The OEM airbox is awesome because plastic is the best heat deterrent.

Not bad for a quick fab. I'm sure you'll net the same hp as any of the other kits out there.

so any updates on this, it looks like the fujita, maybe with some heat wrap this could be good and the price doesn't have to go above 300.

i contacted the place and they said they could make it for me if im local. So if its somewhere around $200 w/intakes i'll jump on it and create some heatshields. I've already been looking at custom heatshields and the whole deal looks promising.

You guys are aware, that once your vehicle is up to speed(around 45 mph) that heat soak doesn't really exist? The temp drops to ambient in a few seconds of driving.

I've seen people that have taken intake temp readings. Once you start moving, the temp drops to normal very quickly.
