Default Strup Header Install

Hey guys/gals I just installed a set of Strup headers that I purchased off of a forum member hear. I figured that I'd post my experience to help anyone w/ questions. The install was def. frustrating at times but overall everything fit well and went together fine. You MUST have mechanics gloves for this install. They saved my hands from cuts, but I still got bruises all over my forearms .You just have to have tons of extensions, a swivel joint and unfortunately at times use a box wrench. After installing the drivers side, I thought I could get away with not draining the coolant...not so. Once I got started on the passenger side, I realized that I had to remove the "hard" coolant pipe to access the bolts. If your headers didn't come w/ 2 bolts along w/ the nuts then you'll have to buy them. I got mine from Home Depot. One bolt each attach the header to the cat since the stock exhaust manifold comes w/ a preset bolt and the Strups don't. The bolts are 10mmX1.25X50mm. You only need two of them and the nuts for them. Everything is back to together and the exhaust sounds great. It's deeper than before, which I love. I'm running the popcharger, plenum spacer, strups into the stock cats then into the Nismo..I love the way it sounds. The butt dyno def. felt positive but I'm going to have to get down to MRC for an after dyno. Now I just have hfc's, cams and utec left.

props on the install. Do the HFC's next, you'll notice a bigger gain with them, then you probably did with your headers. On top of a totally different sounding exhaust.

That's what I hear. I'm looking foward to them, but I'm still researching what hfc's I want to go with. I was thinking of putting cams in first, then hfc's and utec at the same time. Reason being is that I'm afraid of running real lean once the cats go in.

I'm picking up my Strup headers tomorrow and installing them in 2 weeks

You should probably also get an Unorthodox Racing crank pulley. It's a pretty simple install and you'll get a few extra ponies for around 200 bucks.
