Default SES related to test pipes *question*

I have an 03 Z.. about 2-3 months ago i installed some Strup test pipes without non-foulers.. I was told that the 03 did not need them..

today, the SES light came on.. i just so happen to be 2 blocks from Autozone. The code came back as P0430, which i am aware is related to the test pipes being installed. Would this be out of the norm to happen now? After having the test pipes on for almost 2-3 months?

The engine is out of an 04 if that makes any difference..

i am def going to get the non-foulers put on but just wanted to throw this out there to see if this was common or not.

From what I gather, being an 04 engine has something to do with it.

PS...why do you have an 04 engine?

04 engine was a spare with low miles.. car was SC'd.. bad things happened.. made more sense to throw spare engine in instead of rebuilding current..

PO043

"O2 sensor thinks you're ghey"

IIRC, 04's also have narrowband sensors which shouldn't need nonfoulers as well.

One of your o2 sensors could have gone bad...

I still my old O2 sensors if you want to give it a shot. Only one of them works though but it would at least help to find out which one it could be.

Will, do you have an '04 ECU to go with the 04 engine? Otherwise, it should behave like an '03 with respec to not needs the non-foulers.

No.. its all 03 except the engine.. were there any significant changes from 03-04 that would make this possible?

I guess what i was trying to find out is if anyone with an 03 without non-foulers experienced this.. if so, then i would not really be alarmed.. if not, then maybe i should look into this a bit more.. after the ECU reset, it has not come on.. so i will drive it some more and see what happens..

Unless you are certain, 100 percent certain, why not install non-foulers. They cost about $20.
