Default nismo mid pipe on stock muffler

Friends,

I thinking of changin my stock mid pipe to a nismo. I have a tanabe y pipe and I truly like that nice 70mm diameter. My stock mid is ok but I think that a nismo will be much better due to the wider pipe. Since the nismo and stock midpipes look similar,
I was wondering if any one has tried or even know if a nismo mid pipe will work with a stock muffler.
Please let me know if any one has gone this route,

George from Pasadena,

You know I have seen both nismo and stock in the flesh off the car. They look very much alike. The major difference is theY pipe. Nismo is so much better. The mid pipe is different, Nismo is also wider. I think it might be like 60-70 mil. The muffler looks similar and the muffler has a bigger opening for the midpipe muffler union.

If any one has one nismo midpipe for sale and laying around I will pick up if in s. cal.

I actually have this setup right now... after-market Y pipe and nismo midpipe welded on to the stock muffler... its a little louder but nothing drastic like test pipes. But in comparison with the rear muffler off with stock and nismo midpipe, the nismo pipe has a deeper louder growl. Stock rear muffler is really restrictive so I'm gonna ditch it real soon for a magnaflow.

The tanabe or Nismo midpipe is not a derect bolt on for the stock muffler. The flange is mounted a few inches off to the rear of the car.
