Nothing to worry about looks like its your first mod and your parinoid. I get that way too thinking everything I do to the car just makes it worse. Some of the time does, but probably just new metal like when you get new exhaust. As for a tune no you will be fine CAI's don't really add much just for sound.

as long as it is not a rubber burning smell your good. Probably just the intake oil heating up for the first time. if it is burn rubber smell, check for clearance issues in your bumper.

when i installed it i put the peace that go's in front of the left front wheel back on.. it didnt say to do it in the instructions but i figured it would be bad to leave it off.. the filter part is up against it.

Nismo CAI

Anyways, your filter rubbing with the plastic liner thing should not have anything to do with the smell. However i would try and position/move/angle the whole tube so that the filter doesn't rub against it. What type of smell is it??
