It's not a typo, but their claim was never supported by the tests.

Here's the initial thread on it...

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/133339-21hp-19-ft-torque-on-the-350z.html

Do a search of this forum and you'll find a couple more. The bottom line is that the claims were bogus.

sorry its not a typo. there are many threads on this bogus product. their previous stage 2 intake claimed 29 hp which they never backed up with a dyno.

they later on created a dyno which looked like a 5yr old made. the claims are bs, just like their dyno. now they are claiming 50hp??? thats sad.

if an intake that cost $300 could give up 50 hp, there would be no need for superchargers.

I heard that if you combine this intake with a Turbonator, a Kinetix SSV manifold, an SS box, a couple of VRT stickers, and a certain dynapak in the San Diego area that you'll get 800whp!!! And all without a return fuel system too!

WAIT! does it come with stickers??? if so, then they're probably under-rating that estimate, and its closer to 100!

Wow - with this intake, a basic JWT copy, I guess every other intake company would go out of business.

You never know what your getting on EBAY....

It definately would not replace a super charger though...they get at least 1800HP (more like 100-120) with the basic version. At least that power estimate is inline with this product...

AFE is extremely bogus in their claims, but their intakes do not look all that bad. In all honesty, it is nothing like the JWT. The AFE looks to have a full air box that seals with your hood. Also, they include metal piping that replaces your stock maf housing and the upper intake tube. JWT is just a filter with a velocity stack that bolts up to your stock maf housing. So, in those respects, JWT and AFE are different. Honestly, this looks to be no different than the K&N shortram intake that just came available a year or so ago. But, to respond to the OP, NO, the AFE intake will not give you 50 hp.

By the way - here is the link from the company - AFE.

No HP claims...and not a closed housing...it's a box just like the JWT with a custom tube...hmmm

I agree its probably better than JWT but the JWT is not a box at all. I have owned a total of 3 JWT Popchargers (no, I am never satisfied) and its simply a heat shield. The point I was trying to make was that the AFE "box" completely seals off the section around the filter while the JWT heat shield simply deflects some hot air from entering in the filter. This really doesn't matter though, because it looks like we are on the same page
