The kit comes with a cone shaped filter which is mounted inside the box along with your air flow meter. I noticed a slight difference between the injen intake on the low end side which improved a little. As for the sound, it is pretty deep.

Beautiful product! Nice welds...
My only suggestion, create a better seal around the front of the box. Maybe create a new intake cowl or something for a direct connection. You would still have access to the lid for easy removal of the filter. I created my own, but it's not as pretty as yours...

I love the look also but, that price knocks me out of the running to get one. That thing would have to add 10-13 hp or more to be in my bay. Like he said, Stillen has the rig, although plastic for a couple hundred yankee dollars. It looks awesome but, i also agree that it needs to blend closer to the vent or maybe have it's own vent.

I agree. I think the pricing will make this product less attractive since most people now are already complaining that the pricing for an intake is already rediculous. And that's at a $200-$300 range. If you're pricing it according to the Blitz, expect to sell roughly the same amount of units as that since how many do you know actually are running the Blitz vs. (let's say) the Injen.

ARC stuff are always expensive, although their quality look superb, making it quite rare and exotic. I love their looks and quality but.. I have other priorities in my mod list to spend elsewhere. Afterall, it's just all about $$$.

It's funny, but I include myself in this cheap circle of modders. Most Z'ers seem to be very tight with their money and what they decide to spend it on. As an example, you would never see a Porsche or M3 owner complaining about a few hundred bucks for HP improvements, but the Z'ers are a die-hard BBB group of individuals. It's why we all bought the Z in the first place, I guess. Anyway, now that everyone is ragging on ARC, I think they have a real opportunity here. And you have an OPPORTUNITY to become part of the R & D phase thru your comments and opinions.
My .02 cents for ARC, eliminate the vents and long welds and create a more streamlined manufacturing process that yields a lower production cost. I'm speaker here as a product designer and DIY'er. For starters they could create a box that utilizes more folds in the sheet metal for less screws and welds. They could also easily integrate a new metal intake cowl into the design that doesn't become a bottle-neck in the system.
I was tempted to build a one-of-a-kind box out of metal myself, but decided to go with LDPE "plastic", conveniently produced by Rubbermaid instead. I saw all the faults with Injen, JWT, OEM, Stillen, and (Gruppe-S, just for the $$$ factor) and built my own.
Give ARC some positive input and you may end up with a great product worthy of your money!

Looks like something a guest on monster garage welded together from the spare parts left over from a battlebot.
The nifty heatshield on my JWT intake keeps my intake temperatures roughly within 1-2F of the ambient temperature outside while accelerating (read using a OBDII scantool). I'd really like to hear how surrounding a cone with a $600 metal box with rivets and vents will improve on this.
What would impress me is an intake system that provides a true ram-air style function, with a *sealed* link to a bumper or hood duct.
