Default What does a Plenum Spacer Do?

I have seen the thread on what are the down sides to Plenum Spacer. Which I can see there are no down sides really but what does it do? Hp gains ok but what does it really do.

It increases the volume of air in the plenum thereby increasing the flow of dense air to the manifold through iridium mass spectometry. Perhydrocyclopentanophenathrene elements added during the metallurgical processing of the plenum aid in cadiological reponse time of the tachometer fluid.

There are a few threads. I couldn't find the thread with the exact reasoning behind a plenum spacer but the impression that I was under was simply...more airflow. Do a search for "Plenum Spacer" or some derivative and you will yeld many many many pages of material on the subject.

I was going to say that, but did now want to come off like a know-it-all.

BTW, if you're looking for an answer, go to Motordyne's website

www.motordyneengineering.com I think

Bottom line:

The plenum spacers make up for the inherent flaws in the plenum design from the factory. It cuts off intake air to the front to intake runners (cylinder 1 and 2). By raising the plenum cover off of the lower part of the plenum, two things happen. 1 - those cylinders are no longer cut off, and 2 - the effective amount of air volume that can be ingested by the motor is also increased.

Bottom line is more torque and top end HP.
