I was going out tonight it wasnt raining to hard, then all of a sudden its seems the gods pissed for 10 mins straight! Being that no one in the city knows how to drive in the rain a accident happened and the police officers were directing traffic onto a side street! This is where the trouble started, I was going down a residential street and it was a puddle, didnt look TO deep so I proceed to go through keeping constant pressure on the throttle as to not suck up too much water, I have the Injen 1986. As I was going through my car jerked and just stopped, so here I am sitting in the middle of the street in a pool of water car dead. So a guy in a jeep pulled my out hooking up to my rear strut bar, damaging my hatch in the process. So I call a few mechanic buddies and Eagletangreen b/c I'm a noob when it comes to engines, but I figured my engine was toast! Besides buying a new engine, what if anything I can do to solve the problem? Thanks for reading.
The ironic part is I just recieved my Vortech this morning!

That sucks.
If you are talkign about your car getting hydrolocked, then i would try teh following. Someone can correct me if i'm wrong. Take out teh spark plugs so you can access teh cylinders. I believe a wet/dry vac will be too big so use a double sided pump and see if you can pump out any water from the cylinders. you can check in the intake manifold as well.

This also happened with a close friends car. We saved the though since he wasn't at a high rpm when he went through the puddle. His full filter went in the puddle so he we thought he bent a rod. His car shut off and we just towed it home.
Once we were home we did the following:
1.we took out the spark plugs, cranked the car to see if any water came out. A little came out.
2. So the next thing we did was take one of those pumps where you would pump tranny oil in your tranny, put one tube in the cylinders, and one in an empty bottle to catch water, we tried to get most of the water out each cylinder.
3. After that, we bought about 12 quarts of oil, we drained the oil, refill, drain the oil, refill, drain the oil, refill. Check to see if the oil is good.
4.Then we took off the intake manifold just incase, and there was some water in there.
5.Put everything back on, made sure the maf sensor wasn't wet(this causes the car to shut off as well in smaller cases).
6. We started the car up and listen closely to any abnormal sounds.
7. A bit of white smoke blew out, but then ran fine. We did a leak down/compression test and everything was good.
I changed the spark plugs in z and it's not somethign you can do really quick right now this time of nice also since it has been raining hard here in NC. Hope that helped. I know you said you aren't really good with engines so i know you are mad/frustrated that you can't do anything right way. Just be patient. Everything should be ok if you didn't drive it home or keep cranking it in the puddle.
Also, any pics of intake..lol. sorry had to ask, i'm looking for one for one of my z projects. Maybe you can hit me up with some pics and price.

Thanks SuperBlack, I didnt try crank it while I was still submerged. My buddies came over checked the sparkplugs, not any water there, did the same for the intake a small stream leaked out, my MAF was wet also. My car wont turn over so I we couldnt blow out any water.
Sorry to bring this up, but how deep was that puddle? Did water wash over the front of the hood? If the car won't crank with the spark plugs out you have other problems. Is the battery okay? You're suppose to turn it over with the spark plugs removed after putting some oil in each cylinder. I would pull the intake tube as well and blow everything out with compressed air.

Insurance should cover that.. A friend of mine did the same thing with his Civic and he had a JDM EK20A submerged in water.. Insurance covered it.. I hope u had a good insurance company and youll be fine..
Lol wow that blows. I went over a deep puddle once with CAI. The puddle looked like it was only 2" of water but literally it was one huge pothole. Luckily for me I had an air bypass filter on the Nismo.
Insurance might not cover it. If the adjuster see's an aftermarket intake, he might be a dck and reject your claim. I know for Allstate, a lot of the people in Claim's said the same thing.
1) Do/check everything you can to try remove the water yourself. Plenum, oil, plugs, etc, etc.
2) If you cant fix the problem, you need to claim it.
3) Replace intake with stock, just to be safe.
4) Claim.
